What Customers Are Saying
The Utilitech Bronze Wire-in Replacement Motion Sensor has received mixed reviews. While some users reported the sensor worked well with good sensitivity and timer functionality, many experienced reliability and durability issues, with the sensor failing within a year, especially after exposure to weather. There were also compatibility problems, particularly with LED floodlights, and concerns about the quality and difficulty of installation.

Would Not RecommendPurchased in May 2020 and it stopped working few months after. Bought for LED flood lights, initially worked well then a delay began before turning on the lights. Then they would flicker during turn on. Then it no longer worked after that. Multimeter says the lights are still good so has to be the sensor. DO NOT BUY THIS! Read other reviews as well. Will be attempting the 2-yr warranty.
NOT WATER PROOF
Would Not RecommendI purchased 8 ...... YES. 8 of these to turn on security LED 4000k lights surrounding my property and pole barn. In heavy rain I’ve had 5 fill up with water, I replaced and sealed up with silicone and the very next rain I had them fill up again. DO NOT BUY unless it’s a indoor install. They functioned fine. But not outdoors period
Third time´s a charm?
Would Not RecommendThis is the second one I have bought and it failed after two years, like the first. Light stays on. Outdoor sensor is wired to an indoor entryway light. Also like the first, failed after a rainfall. If it´s rated for outdoor use, should be able to withstand rain. Wish I could find another brand, but so far, unable to.
Utilitec replacement...
Would Not RecommendDidn't work from the get go. After further evaluation it looks like it was returned and put back on the shelf

Would Not RecommendDOESN’T work. I’ve installed two and when someone walks past it, it fails to go brighter. I think they are defective.

Not very good
Would Not RecommendThis sensor is good at sensing movement coming from either side but if someone is approaching it directly in what would be considered the middle of the sensing field it will not respond until you are about 20 feet away.
Motion sensor
Would RecommendWorks great. As described. The only problem is it creates static interference on a AM radio in the house when working!

Junk, warrenty run around, Lowe's drops the ball
Would Not RecommendI had wired up my outdoor lights to come on with a sensor years ago. The original Heathkit unit finally died and I only could find this product. Installed and worked for a year and quit. Box states 2 yr warr. Went to Lowes to return and was told they only exchange for 90 days and to contact the manufacturer. Called ph on paperwork, they stated that I should exchange at Lowes. Went back, same story, 90 days. Bought another unit out of frustration and installed. Worked about a year again and died....

Motion Sensor
Would RecommendWe installed one each on our two wired lampposts. Auto on from the end of our driveway until we are out of the car and getting in the door. Love it! Option on the auto off ranges from 1 to 10 minutes. Ten is perfect for us!

Failed within 90 days
Had to replace this motion sensor within 90 days of purchase. I’ve not had good luck with these sensors, hoping the new one lasts a few years.

Does the Job
Would RecommendThis is a replacement for the failed-after-many-years unit I have on my garage. On the plus side; it fits, and is a good replacement for the original one. It works well, as it senses motions same as the original one, and first is active about dusk. It does lack the sensitivity adjustment that the original unit had, the only reason for 4 stars vs. five.
