2-pack dielectric nipple with ht trap

Would Recommend

Our Rocky Mountain water is so hard, it is mandatory to us dielectric between copper pipes and brass fittings. The life of the water heater will be extended for years. When buying, check to see that the package is sealed. I bought one pack which turned out to have been opened and one part had been replaced with an inappropriate replacement. It meant a return to the store to exchange.

A must have

Would Recommend

Due to the recessed inlet-outlet water fittings on the heater, these fittings are a must. The price of these are about 1/10 of their value in the installation process!

Constricts Flow

Would Not Recommend

Because of the flapper valves in the nipples, my hot water flow was restricted and more sensitive to someone turning on a faucet elsewhere in the house. Wife was not happy and so I replaced them with regular nipples and the water flow is much better.

installed new h20 heater

Would Not Recommend

I cannot say whether these plumbing pieces are useful or not as they were a required purchase with my new water heater. I am at the mercy of the plumber as to whether or not he used them during the installation process. No one ever explained the purpose of these two traps to me, all I know is that they cost extra and that Lowe's said I needed them.
