Since one company (MTD) make most all the mowers in this class, I was pleasantly surprised with this TB42 Model. It seems solid, cuts great, and is very reasonably priced. It has a floating deck which was one of my "must have" requirements. My only concern was the engine, but it seems strong and runs good so far (only 4 weeks). Hope that lasts. The 7 speed transmission for me is all I need and it works flawlessly. The turning radius is very good and much better than my last mower. I cannot under...

Used 5 Times
I mow just a little over 1 acre. I changed the oil after using the Pony the first time. Everyone should do this. You will see some engine metal in the oil. That's normal and why you should change that factory oil after the first use. I like the step through frame and the easy steering. The seat is just ok. The blades cut even, but the belt is squeaking and already showing some rub wear. After the first couple of mowings now when I first start out, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear won't work for about five...

Good Mower
The Pony is a good mower for smaller projects and is a joy to use, but the deck will need to be adjusted if you add a bagger as it weighs one side down.

BEST EVER!!!!!!
I love this mower, I have 2.75 acres which most is wooded and a lot of undergrowth. This mower not only handles the grass but with the bagger attachment, can go through the undergrowth like it is nothing. It starts easily, runs great and is the best mower for the money, if you are looking for a mower that will tackle your lawn jobs, this is for you. If there is one problem is that I didn't buy the mulching kit, which would make my yard work even easier. (Sure would love a mulching kit Troy-Bilt)...

Tried and True!
I've got a 2011 model pony and it cuts grass just fine! I change the oil when it needs to be changed and have had to change the deck belts once. It does as advertised, I hope to get more out of it but defiantly will buy Troy Bilt when I need to replace it maybe upgrade!

Like my Pony
Everything is great except I added washers to aid smoothness to steering. Works better with this.

purchase
Am very satisfied,my only problem is when you go in reverse you have to disengage the blade(I know it is a safety feature)but it is a pain in the butt.for I have a lawn that you need to reverse plenty.....

Like it so far
I have used this about 5 times since I got it and like the way runs. There are times that I have had an issue starting but take it out of choke into high run and it starts right up. I do not like the fact that you have disengage the PTO to back up, had I done a bit more research I would have realized this. Also because it is not a floating deck there a spots that get scalped but that is not a real bi issue to me. SO far this has been a good purchase and has made cutting the grass ( 1/2 A) easier...

don't buy
this mower is hard to use. can't back up to get close to something. doesn't come with the attachment to wash after mowing. I bought this attachment, and I just wasted my money. If you want a good mower go somewhere else..

Generally quite good in performance
I bought this last year because after 20 years of walk-behind push mowing, I was done with all that. I shopped around quite a bit based on performance, price, and durability, and the Troy Bilt Pony seemed like a good option. I also purchased the optional grass catcher accessory. I had it delivered, and it start up immediately--which was very pleasing. Mowing my yard is now almost a breeze, and now it takes 45 minutes compared to 5 hours before. A few things that keep this from bein...

Best mower I've ever had.
This is the first new riding mower I have ever bought, I have had 3 used units. If they cut good they either ran terrible or were hard to start, or if they started easy they cut terrible. With my Troybilt I have the luxury of easy starting, great running and awesome cutting. The purchase may have set me back a few bucks, but it's gonna save me money in the long run. Won't have to buy belts, blades, plugs, oil or anything else until next season.

Transmission Belt
My tractor has trouble going up slight grades. Can someone tell me where the transmission belt is located, because I think that may be where the problem is?

Once you ride this pony........
Once you ride this pony you will never go back. It does a great job, easy to cut grass and the price is just right. I was surprised with the quality of the lawn mower. Would love to have a Troy-bilt baseball cap to show my friends that they don't need to spend a lot to get a real good riding mower.

Lawn Tractor
Would RecommendThis is a great Tractor for the price but as I live in Southern Arizona, the tires all went flat the first day, Green Slime fixed that. No one had lived in our house for at least two years so it was a quite overgrown 10 acres. This Tractor took down 12" grass weeds and small Mesquite trees no problem (except the flat tires from the Mesquite) which I expected.

Best I've had
Would RecommendI've had Craftsman, Bolens (MTD), and some off-brand riding mowers, and I've thoroughly enjoyed this Troy-Bilt Pony. When it's time to replace it years from now, I'll go with another one. Excellent quality.

Great mower
Would RecommendI bought this to replace a super bronco as it finally just got to be to much to work on it. This pony is a much better machine. Gives a great cut and handles real well, fast on the turns and comfortable to ride on. Couldn't ask for a better machine.
