Works for me

I am not an electrician. I had a few projects around the house where I needed to replace a light, or ceiling fan. This little tool quickly lets me know if there is still juice or not. I am sure there are other great uses for it. But my main concern is not getting electrocuted.

Very reliable

This is a very reliable and handy tool. It is easier to use than the other sniffers I’ve had in the past. The one draw back is the light being on the opposite end of the sensor.

Use it all the time. Even checking Christmas lights. Have purchased same item over 3 years ago and gifted all our children and a friend overseas. Loaned the first one out and it didn’t come back imediatly. Couldn’t imagine being without one. Makes a great gift for any handyman.

Works as advertised. Very simple to use. Doesn't give the voltage but indicates when voltage is present.

dangerous if faulty

this was a gem to start with, but still ALWAYS check breakers but then started to give false readings and tail chasing waste of time. even with power off completely still gave warning of voltage. returned! has to be a meter now.

Our house flooded due to hurricane Harvey so we decided to remodel. We hired an electrician to do major rewiring since the house is 50 years old and wired weird. I saw him pull this gadget out often to check if wires were hot. Since I do some minor electrical work, I bought myself one. It has proven very handy and provides a great measure of safety and is a lot easier to use than a meter

Life saver - paid for itself!

I bought this as a safeguard to ensure the power was off before replacing home ceiling fans. It was fun to try out and seemed to be fine for ensuring the right breakers were off. After we did the ceiling fan wiring and turned the power back on, this little tool probably saved me from electrocution. The fan didn't work, and as I reached for it to see if the power was connected, the voltage detector beeped like crazy over 5 feet away from the fan.
