Gas strut failed FAST. KNOWN ISSUE

If you want to die while trying to pry your own safe open, this is the safe for you. It's a known issue all over the internet. Strut failed barely 2 years in, with opening it maybe a total of 25 times. It won't open now unless you have a butter knife to pry it open, or you use the key. GARBAGE and probably class action worthy.

Great Security; Until You Need Your Gun!

Initially I was very excited about this safe, and it worked well. As with many of the reviews already here the gas strut has failed. That’s the only reason I wouldn’t recommend this product. The construction is very strong; the unlock is quick; the weapon is securely and safely stored. A shame about the piston. Way out of warranty. Will be looking to see how much a replacement is before making a decision.

Gas strut failed and finger print is so-so.

I would love it except i have to keep a knife to pry it open because the gas strut doesn't open. Would not buy if you plan to use by your bed for emergency situations unless sentry safe has upgraded their strut.

Gas strut lasted a year. Now the door is barely accessible. Scary thinking I could of found out when my life was on the line.

Stong and safe for your family

I love this safe because you need a key or know the combination to entry the safe. So, it keep unwanted family members and unwanted guest for removing your property. My wife loves it because the property is available for any unwanted intruder.

This safe is perfect for my handgun. It fits along with two magazines. I have heard that the batteries burnout quickly but I will have to keep and eye on them for a few months and see how they wear.

Depending on this safe in a life or death situation could result in death!! Strut has failed and safe now opens very slowly. Defective product! Do not purchase.

Door jams

No quick access. When code is entered you can hear the latch release but door stays closed until pried open. If someone came into the house it would take to much time to get to the gun.

Strut stopped working

Worked well for over a year, changed batteries since it wasn’t opening. It looks like the compression strut is not working

I keep this by my beside. Last night I heard some noises in the back yard in the middle of the night. I've had this safe for about a year now and have not had the need to use it until yesterday. I entered the combo and I heard it click open but the lid stayed closed. The internal shock and spring had failed. I had to pick the safe up and turn it upside down to retrieve my pistol in the dark. Top notch, but poorly designed gas strut

This is a great handgun safe that has one substantial failure - the gas strut that opens the lid. To open the safe, you press one of the rubberized keys to activate the code reader, then enter a code pattern with the buttons. Then the locking mechanism releases and the two gas pistons are supposed to push the lid open. The problem is, over time, the gas pistons stop working. Gets the job done!

I'll start by saying it was an incredibly easy set-up and I love the fact it came with all the required hardware to mount the safe securely (lag bolts and washers). So far so good. Not an overly complicated design which is nice. The product feels like a high quality item as soon as you pick it up and feel its weight.
