Extremely secure safe

I am very pleased with the size of this safe & the ability to store it almost any where fir easy access.

Gas strut failure

Safe was initially very nice. A year in and the gas strut barely cracks the lid anymore. Pretty disappointed. This rarely gets used, other than periodic weapon maintenance so it's not over use that did it in.

Gas Strut failure

This safe is great except the gas strut failed after little more than a year ownership. After reading about other's complaints about the same issue, I am very curious as to whether Sentry will charge me for a replacement strut or just mail one to me. Having a handgun safe that just "clicks" and does not open is not very reassuring.

Compression Gas Strut Failure

Compression gas strut used to open safe quickly and efficiently failed after a few months. It won’t open anymore. I access the safe with my fingerprint and it just clicks. Lid stays where it’s at. I have to grab a knife to slip into the slit in order to open it.

Gas Strut Problem

I love the functionality of the safe, especially when you first purchase it. After a year or so of use the gas strut becomes useless. I realize struts go bad, but after a year of not continuous use? I should be looing for another safe now for my wife and my duty weapons that will be getting daily use. For the rest of the functioning of the safe I will give it an extra star because it's great design, just flawed parts.

Decent safe but batteries don't last long

Safe seems secure enough but batteries don't last long and the safe has to be opened with the key. Not good for fast access.

Worked as expected- until the gas strut failed.

After reading these reviews , it seems my failed gas strut is all too common. I'm hoping Sentry Safe can provide a replacement.

Gas Strut Failure

My gas strut failed after about 6 months and i never bothered to replace. It seems this is a common problem. I wish the company would replace.

Strut fails after 2 yrs

This handgun safe has a gas strut which has failed after just a couple of years. I see this appears to be an issue with others as well. 

Poor Gas Assist Opening Mechanism

The safe is great except over time the gas assist cylinder that springs the door open fails. When the code is entered, the door only opens a crack and you have to try to get your finger in there to get it open. In an emergency, this is unreliable and unacceptable.

Meets my Safety Requirements

Great product so far. Seems to work just as described. Hope to have it for a very long time.

I love the guage steel, size, and weight, but the safe did not open with the digital touch safe only with the key.

Well made. Perfect size for my application

I needed a pistol safe large enough to accommodate my S&W .357 revolver. The safe needed to be reliable, easy to open, difficult to pry open and also fit inside a drawer. This safe passes all with flying colors.

Construction good, minor issue with opening strut

When you open the safe the piston on the opening strut is not strong enough to open lid quickly. Not sure if this is common to this model or I have a defective strut??

Great safe

Right size and open from the top. Fits great in out of the way space.

Secure and easy to access

It fits my pistol and spare magazine with room to spare, and it is compact enough to fit in a small area. I also love that it is fire resistant.

Look elsewhere

I've had the safe for a few months and the shock already failed not too reassuring for when it counts. Better to find out now than later. Keep looking.

Reliable and quick to open

I purchased to keep my 6 year old grandson's young hands off and still have fast reliable access to a home defense handgun. Plenty of room for a full size .45 and extra magazine and its a breeze to open. Buttons illuminate when you depress one to bring out of its sleep mode to make code entry easy in complete darkness. This is a very heavy duty safe that can be bolted down if desired. It is somewhat large and it is heavy and it is not very good for putting in a nightstand drawer. Mine sits ...

Works Great

I've had this for several months without any issues. I'm still on the first set of batteries but I never by discount batteries since my electronics demand better. I've just ordered the keyed version for my truck so I can have a secire spot for my conceal carry firearm when necessary. I'll review it once I receive it and have a chance to run it through the trials.
