EZ Seed Patch and Repair a major disappointment.

Thought I would bite the bullet and spend the extra money for a reputable grass seed. Spent significant time prepping the soil. Followed the directions to a tee. Planted at the correct time of season. Watered as suggested. Likely less than 1% germination rate. Entire 10 lb bag generated roughly 20 blades of grass. Disappointed

Wish there was a zero star option. They guarantee it will grow anywhere. Can't even get it to grow in the best environment possible. I hand tilled the bare spots, put the seed down and waited. It was watered, the temp was never below 65, no foot traffic and in sunlight. Not even one blade of grass. Very disappointed.

Easiest way to grow grass

I've tried many different products when it comes to growing grass, with varying results. The Scotts EZ Seed is far and away the best one. Consistently produces healthy, thick grass, usually mowable after 2-3 weeks. All you need to do is keep it wet. No need for straw or any additional fertilizer. Just make sure its consistently moist and the day time temps aren't much higher than 80 or lower than 60. It's expensive but well worth it.

Not worth the money

I tried ez seed & patch 2weeks ago and still no results and was not satisfied. I followed the instructions loosen the ground with a hand tiler, spread the seed using a spreader over about 2" of fertilizer, and put ez-straw to cover It

Two weeks later nothing but bare spots and no growth

Second purchase was a disappointment.

After great bare batch results with my purchase I bought more… the results was a complete disappointment. Not one blade of new grass after more than a month, didn’t do anything different in preparation and the weather was suitable for growth. Purchased through Amazon so I don’t know how long it’s been sitting on the shelf if that’s an issue… after looking at the reviews it looks like I’m not the only one.

This product is terrible.

This product is terrible. I followed the directions meticulously. I spread the mixture four different times over about four weeks. Never saw one blade of new grass.

DID NOT WORK

Wasted my money on this. Did not work at all. Applied twice but no luck.

My neighbor and I had a similar problem with patch issues in our lawns. I bought EZ Seed and he bought your competitor’s product. Bought new top soil and removed damaged turf. I am still waiting for growth after two and half weeks and he his in only ten days in with great growth. EZ Seed is anything but easy. Been three weeks with nothing. Be patient

Living in the PNW, spring is a rough time to try laying seed but with the HOA on my tail, I had to give it a try. I bought two bags of Patch and Repair Tall Fescue. After clearing the areas with a rake, I applied according to directions. I’ve seen a lot of reviews about saying “no grass after a week, two weeks, etc.” it took 4 weeks for germination to occur due to the cooler temperatures. Think ground temperatures, not ambient air. Used Scott’s to plant my whole yard!

Interesting reviews. This may be part of the issue? I do not see any discussion on pre emergent fertilization use with new grass seed?? Scott’s seems to be missing this issue in their comment and disclosure for proper use? Maybe I missed it, but I have always been told once you put a Crabgrass pre emergent on your lawn your ability to grow grass stops. You have to wait till fall. Fooled twice

Second year using this product and not one blade of grass…. I’m done with this product. Had a neighbor use it this year as well and he had the same results..

Better than anything else I've tried

I tried so many things to cover the bare spot under a tree in my backyard. Nothing worked. So on a whim I bought a canister of EZ Seed sun and shade last Fall. It works!! In fact it worked so well I just bought a 10# bag for the other bare areas in my yard. Thank you Scott's!

Do NOT recommend

Recently got our deck re done which caused a lot of damage to our grass surrounding the deck as well as the path leading from our front yard to the back. We purchased 4 bags which was very expensive & followed the instructions perfectly. Keeping 3 kids & a dog off that much grass was NOT easy! While it grew in some areas it certainly DID NOT grow everywhere which is very disappointing. We have sun, shade & uneven surfaces, everything they claim it will grow. I do not recommend this product
