Buyer Beware!

I have had this dryer about about 4 years. Up until now, no complaints and loved it except the hard to open lint trap. HOWEVER----- Dryer drum cracks are a known issue and they still sell this model for some reason. Wanted to make sure others are aware. There was a Class Action Lawsuit attempted, a few years back but ultimately dismissed. The replacement drum is about half the cost of the dryer, and the issue is something with the wheel that spins it being an incorrect size/fit, so the new ...

Do NOT Recommend

Constant problems with both this model dryer and the washing machine. Both machines are less than 4 years old and have already required more than 50% of their original cost to repair/maintain. Will never buy Samsung appliances again!

Better options out there

Purchased this dryer about 6 years ago, have had to have derived 3 times during that time frame. 1 Motor, 1 Set of Drum Rollers and 1 Heating Element. Now on to our 4th service call which appears to be another Heating Element. Could have purchased other Brand Twice over after all service calls.

Bad Heating Element Design

I've replaced 4 heating elements on this stupid dryer and now I'm about to do a 5th. We've had our vents cleaned and clean the lint trap with every load.

Piece of crap

Samsung says 14 year life on dryers......NOT My dryer is 5 years old and the plastic piece of crap drum cracked into pieces. Now I have an 8 inch hole in the dryer. 14 years???????? Horrible product

Choose another brand.

Our dryer is 5 years old. Like many on this forum, it developed an issue of a metal-on-metal grinding sound. I have never owned a dryer that has only lasted 5 years. Prior to it breaking, the dryer worked fine. My biggest complaints were (1) the auto-sensor option for drying only worked for High and Medium heat, but I dry most of my clothes on Low, so I couldn't take advantage of the auto-sensor drying and (2) the steam option never worked properly - and I had to pay a plumber to set up the wate...

Beware you will need to fix alot.

We purchased this dryer when we bought our home and it worked great at first but less then 2 years in we had to replace the motor which was not cheap 2 years later we had to have it serviced again and here we are again needing to replace the motor again! It's only 8 years old and if we pay to replace the motor again we will have paid the same as what we paid for the dryer itself. I do not recommend unfortunately.

Cracked drum now

Nothing but repairs. We have had to repair this three times now and the most recent is a cracked drum which tore a brand new blanket we just spent $200 on. Also, cracked drums are a common complaint and they have not done anything to help their customers or recalled these dryers which cracking can cause fires.

Dryer Good (Washer Not)

Dryer worked okay but seemed to run a lot longer then our 12 year old Whirlpool. Bought as a set with the matching dryer but after 2-1/4 years of constant problems with the washer we finally trashed the washer and donated the dryer to Habitat for Humanity.

Longevity

dryer dv42h5000e: ran great for 3 years, replaced the element, lasted two more years, replaced it again and it lasted half a load. time for a new machine without samsung name on it.

Not Good

I have had this washer for less than two years. It breaks often. It would stop working on anything other than the "quick wash" setting. My laundry didn't get very clean when washed this way. Also, at the end of each cycle, a very plaintive chime sounds and it cannot be turned down or off. Do not buy this machine. I just ordered a different brand of washer to replace it.

Total waste

i have had this dryer 17 months. i spent $800 hard earned money on this dryer that i thought would last for years. in 17 months the contol panel and the heating element are broken. now the dryer turns on and then immediately rolling and rolling without control. this is so unacceptable of a product. it is out of warranty and there is nothing that can be done. samsung needs to make this right! i will never purchase another samsung appliance the rest of my life and i am only 35! do not make the sam...

Didn't last its full machine lifetime

if it hadn't broken after only 5 years of use for a family of two, i would still have no complaints. the machine is quiet and easy to use. unfortunately, it began making scraping noises a month ago. finding a tech in the area to service it was difficult, and last night there was a loud pop and the machine stopped turning minutes after starting a new load. we're hoping samsung can fix it so this machine gets the other 10 years of life i'd expect out of a drier. in addition, it appears the price h...

Unsatisfied customer

my wife and i bought the dryer/washer combo to stack in our bathroom. when we got the products we were happy with it so for almost a year everything was fine. that was until one day in 2019 the dryer decided to not stop running after the clothes were finished being dry. unless we unplug the dryer or leave the door open the dryer continues to run. so we contacted customer service which ended up telling us it was going to cost us a good amount of money for the parts and for the tech to come out. w...

Failed Twice in 1st Year, Samsung not helping

Don't do it!

there are barely enough words to describe the level of frustration, disappointment and time wasted on buying this dryer. after having a visit to fix the dryer - making a horrendous noise, which apparently is common - you would think that you would be left with a normal working dryer. clearly not. i have never had to untangle bedding as often as i need to with this dryer - to the point of over a 60 minute cycle, having to need to untangle sheets 10 times. who has that kind of time to waste. i kno...

Terrible Reliability

Drum Broke down less than a year

Bought this brand new, drum broke down in less than a year. Will not spin while running the cycle, even after running through troubleshooting directions. I DO NOT recommend this product.

3 ELECTRICAL FAILURES IN 4 YEARS, REPLACING NOW

i bought this unit 4 years ago, i'm a single guy, i don't do a ton of laundry, yet i've had various electrical elements burn out 3 times since buying it (high limit fuse as well as heating element). having a look at consumer reports verified my suspicions that samsung has serious reliability issues. i'm replacing my 4 year old unit with a new dryer from another brand now.
