What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise this butcher block oil for its ease of application, beautiful finish, and food-safe properties. Many highlight how straightforward it is to apply with rags or cloths, even for beginners, and note it enhances natural wood grain and delivers a smooth, professional result. Reviewers consistently emphasize its reliability for cutting boards, countertops, and food-contact surfaces, with several reporting years of successful use. Most find multiple coats and light sanding between applications key to durability. A few mention chemical odor during application and note the finish requires reapplication every six months, though most view this as normal maintenance rather than a drawback.

Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have an old butcher block cutting board that my grandfather gave me when he passed. It’s beautiful, but very old and needs some love. After I had sanded the top flat, and took away some of the grime, it was left very dull. I used Watco butcher block oil not only to protect it from further damage, but to also bring it back to life. The difference before applying the oil and after is night and day. The oil brings out the natural beauty of the w...

This is a good product so far!
Would RecommendI bought this to apply to a wooden veg trug in order to protect the wood before I planted in it. This oil applied easily (I used a brush instead of rubbing it in, and I don't see any brushstrokes). It did not have any strong odor and dried quickly. I have not had time to test it with time and planting (and seeing if it holds up to the dirt and watering and rain), but so far, this seems to be a good product. I used the entire can on my cart, and that was just one coat--I am debating whether I...

Easy to apply and clean up
Easy to apply and clean up. I used a rag to apply it. Put on 4 coats. 400 grit light sanding between coats. Should have probably added a few more coats. It took 2 Cans to do about 50 sf. with 4 coats.

Leaves Beautiful Wood
Would RecommendI originally bought Boiled Linseed Oil, then found out that it was not food grade and couldn't use it. But this Butchers Block Oil was perfect. I made a beautiful cutting board out of three types of hardwood and this oil just topped off a nice looking piece. Enough left over to re-oil about every six months. Easy and a great value.

As expected
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This worked as expected for me I have a small IKEA kitchen island/cart that is birch wood and came unfinished. I wanted to stop the top from absorbing stains but still have a food-safe working area. I finished the whole thing using this oil and finish and it looks great. It looks natural and not thick and shiny like a polyurethane. It brought out the natural color of my island and I love the look. I had previously been using butcher block miner...
