I love all things Roku, but was disappointed with this remote. You have to speak directly and clearly and be close to the remote for it to locate itself or recognize a voice command. So, if the remote is buried in the covers, it's not going to hear you unless you shout. Also, we need to have a headphone bluetooth button on these. It would be so helpful. I bought this Roku, which included the new remote. I have a rechargeable remote that does not light up. I enjoy the fact that it does light up, but it is missing the programmable buttons. Overall, the remote and Roku are way better than the Samsung interface.

Wish it had the headphone feature

I was going to purchase this new remote but then I realized that it does not have the headphone feature that the regular Remote Pro version and that is a deal breaker for us since my husband is hard of hearing. With the headphone, he can watch TV with the volume set as high as he wants and I am not bothered. Sure hope you will redesign this to add the headphone feature.

Good remote - Battery life is poor

I love the layout of the Roku remotes. They are well designed and comfortable to use. I like that this remote lights up, but because of it, the battery life is terrible. I'm recharging the remote every few weeks. The backlighting is very bright. I would have preferred a more subtle backlighting that didn't drain the battery so fast.

I was excited to get my new backlight remote... Until I tried to plug my headphones in it! It does not have a headphone jack! When would you need backlit remotes....in your bedroom! When would you need headphones...in your bedroom when one partner goes to sleep early... YOU NEED TO HIGHLIGHT THE FACT IT HAS NO HEADPHONE JACK ON ALL THE SHOPPING PAGES. The back light would be so very helpful. However, we really like and need the earplug feature when one TV watcher and one BOOK reader are cohabitating the room. Plus, we are upset that our current ROKU remote fastforward has become an uncontrollable super speed fastforward. Makes us hesitate about continuing with ROKU. None of those pre-programmed buttons work for me - a total waste. I bought this solely for the backlite feature. Still miss the "1" and "2" buttons but given it's in the bedroom, I will keep it. I sure wish that Roku would combine some of these features and make one outstanding remote - then I would replace all of mine.

The original remote I got with my Rku had a headset jack. This new improved model does not. The headset is a good option if you want to watch TV and not bother others. I would rather see a bluetooth connection but would settle for the headset jack.

We purchased this because one of out 1st Edition pro remotes went out. When it came in we realized that it no longer has a headphone jack! It says that it is a better remote and better battery then why go backwards in technology? We ended up returning the remote and had to pay double the price on a 3rd party site to get the Gen 1 so we could have the rechargeable remote with the headphone jack.

The micro-usb version had a headphone jack so a hearing impaired person could get audio. The USB-C version does not and appears not to work with phone to 3.5mm adapters, at least the ones I have tried. That is big loss.

I tried remote after remote and they ALL stop working for one reason or another within the first year. Every. Single. One. ...now I got THE most expensive upgraded remote, and hands-free voice command stopped working. NOW even using the mic to give commands has stopped working. Love Roku stick; HATE Roku remotes.
