Need to connect to WiFi to function

Installation was easy however I wish it was dialed like my old one versus digital.

8 Zones, with a master valve zone

8 Zones, with a master valve zone. I have been looking for these features for a while. My last sprinkler controller would not power 2 zones at once - and with the phone app I can put the controller way out of the way.

Upgrade rain bird!

This device is smarter than for sure. I had an older model rain bird, so wiring so just way too simple. It adjust automatically to weather and if it rains, it doesn’t turn on. It’s a great device and I recommend. Great value!

Awesome WiFi timer

This Rain Bird irrigation timer is just what I needed. Setup only took 15 minutes and you definitely want to use the app for setup. It’s WiFi enabled, smart home compatible, rugged design and you’re able to customize your watering schedule.

Works great overall

This was a huge upgrade to the old controller I had. Installation was extremely easy and straightforward. My only complaint is that the WiFi strength is weak and doesn’t won’t connect to my router. I’ll likely have to get a signal booster. Other than that, it controls the sprinkler system flawlessly.

Easy to use irrigation controller

The setup was fast and easy with the mobile app. It’s working very well. My plants are happy. The mobile app is great for monitoring and making changes to my watering days and times. The seasonal adjustment feature makes saving water easy.

Beta version app

A bit confusing - there are two different apps for this. The one that actually works is the Beta version. I cannot get it to connect to my wifi but it creates it's own wifi/bluetooth connection. Not as simple and intuitive as I had hoped but it is functional.

Can’t say, haven’t hooked it up yet! Saving for later but was told by an employee that it takes forever to hook it up!!!

Older technology; slow response to app instruction

I'm used to it now -- pretty much. I didn't find the app very user friendly (obvious how to navigate it without asking someone who lives in the tech and app world). It is slow to connect through the wifi and respond by starting the sprinklers. Sometimes it starts the water within a minute; other times it takes 3-5 minutes, or doesn't start at all. I always thought that Rainbird was a premium product and I'm surprised that this product fell short in so many areas. With the lack of a user interface on the front of the unit and being totally reliant on bluetooth and wifi to operate and program one would expect a much better wireless experience. Does the job, but wireless is a bit fussy

This controller succeeds or fails on the strength of your wireless connection to the controller and whether (or not) you like the app on your phone that controls it. The instructions say you should have "at least two bars" of wireless connectivity which isn't true -- my Pixel 3A shows 75% wireless strength at the location and the controller couldn't make the connection unaided.
