Would RecommendThe kit comes in a box with an expandable bar/rod, a “pancake’ metal box, a bracket to attach the pancake box to the bar, along with the necessary screws and a Romex protector insert to prevent the metal junction “pancake” box from cutting the insulation on the wires. The instructions are really very simple if you are familiar with how the bar/rod fits in the ceiling. I installed it between two rafters without drywall to show the proper configuration (see pic below). Installation: Cut a hole ...
Slim ceiling mount easy to install
Would RecommendThe slim ceiling mount is very easy to install. The turnbuckle installs simply between the ceiling joist by tightening it until the teeth dig into the wood. Once that is installed the box attaches and then you can mount the fixture.
Great product, easy to use.
Would RecommendGreat product to replace old plastic boxes that aren't able to handle a ceiling fan or heavy light fixture. Easy to install and assemble. These are my go-to when installing fans in older houses. Sturdy product.
This bracket is heavy duty, but...
Would Not RecommendI took this to the job site. Went to install. Couldn't get it to extend. Could not push the button shown in photo, even with considerable force. Need to take it back to the shop and investigate. Time suck.
Quality "old work" universal fan / ceiling box
Would RecommendSolid heavy duty construction. Weight load for light fixture is 110 lbs and ceiling fan is 70 lbs.We have a storage closet under a staircase that was built without a light so we decided to put one in. We needed the light's location to be temporary and adjustable so we could move the permanent light into it's final position once we made a fixture selection. It was great that the mounting box is 1/2 inch deep which will make it flush with the front of new installed drywall. The side cleats on the ...
Easy and solid
Would RecommendEasy to install for a solid base for the ceiling fan. Good installation instructions, easy to follow and excellent illustrations. Very intuitive design.
Easy to install fan junction box.
Would RecommendRACO 1-Gang metal ceiling fan junction box. The Retro Brace is adjustable for joist spacing 16 in to 24 in. Simple fastener for tightening outlet box and brace. I installed this in my shed. Going to put a ceiling fan up in it. Very easy to install.
Very impressed, well thought out.
Would RecommendI like the rating for weight stamped very clearly on the box. I instructions are also on the box itself so no paper inside that can get lost. The buttons on the bar for varying lengths are very handy. I also liked how the box and bar can be assembled with two slotted screws.
Great retrofit kit if it fits your fan weight.
Would RecommendRACO provides very good instructions for easy installation, see my picture. This item uses tension of an expandable screw rod into i-joists or standard joists at 16 to 24 inch joist span. There are 2 knockout circles for the existing wiring you need to pull through the pan for the fan assembly. The pan is not very deep, only about 3/4 inch deep, so you'll need to manage the wiring to fit well and probably will need to trim your fan wiring to squish it in. The product includes a Phillips hole o...
Ceiling brace and box
Would RecommendCeiling brace and box kit. Very simple to install. Just cut a 4 inch hole and push the bracket with the box attached. This one is low profile, great for tight spaces. Great for chandeliers and ceiling fans.
Perfect for remodeling jobs
Would RecommendThis box is perfect for installation of a fan without having to cut out drywall and open up a ceiling. It is slightly hard to open however, I believe it is the only way that it would work. Very sturdy I could almost hang off a bit after it was installed. I would highly recommend this product to family and friends.
Ceiling brace and box kit
Would RecommendThis ceiling fan brace kit is one of the best kits I’ve ever used. It was fast and convenient to install and extremely sturdy when installed. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
A Great Problem Solver
Would RecommendAs an electrician for over 45 years, I’ve use a lot of “old work” fan boxes by various makes and models. Getting a brace box to handle a shallow mounting situation was always a challenge, and usually required modifying the brace by cutting the “legs” off, and combining a fan pancake box. This new product solves that problem and is a welcome addition to any on hand supply of electrical boxes.
Fan mount bracket
Would RecommendI recieved today 2-16-24. Bracket is adjustable. So u can move from side to side. Nails to the side of yoyr ceiling joists. Im in the middle of remodeling my kitchen. I wish it would have been here a week sooner, it would be up on my ceiling. Definitely worth buying.
In order to push the buttons to remove the extender, the rod has to be unthreaded enough to pass the buttons, to allow for clearance.
