Ratings & Reviews for Harbor Breeze 16 -Gauge Landscape Lighting Cable Connector
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
The cable fixture connectors are generally easy to use and reliable, especially for connecting 12 or 14 gauge landscape lighting wires. However, some customers reported difficulties with the metal prongs properly piercing and connecting thinner 16 or 18 gauge wires. Long-term outdoor use may also be a concern, as a number of customers experienced failures and water damage over time when the connectors were buried. Careful installation and following the instructions closely is recommended to ensure a secure and reliable connection.

Would Not Recommend* I had bought some about a year ago that worked great, just bought a pack today and there junk. What took me 2 minutes before took 10minutes due to not being able to get a good connection.
Landscape Lighting Cable Connecter
Would Not Recommendlousy product; was supposed to save me time; worked on job for 2 hours and couldn't make the light connect with the cable. Don't buy them!
Terrible design
Would Not RecommendTerrible design - could not get cable to light up properly with the pins. Once you try to screw connector down, no way of seeing if your cable is lined up properly with pins which are two short. Eventually got one to light up by using a small C-clamp to press the cable onto the pins and left it that way (and buried it), not using the bottom cable race for the clamp - RIDICULOUS!!
Do not buy.....
Would Not RecommendThese did not work for me. Very difficult to make up connections. I would look for another option. I will be returning these tomorrow.
Hello K, sorry you were not happy with your purchase. Thanks for your comment.

I just bought 2ey work great packs of these connectors and they work great better then the connectors that come with the light
Poor design
Would Not RecommendThe build quality seems fine, it's sturdy plastic, like all other connectors. The issue is that these are a bit cumbersome to try to line up 16 gauge wire. You have to have all four wires lined up exactly in order for the spikes to pierce your low voltage wires. The spikes on the fixture end are pretty easy to line up (there are tracks to place the wire) but the spikes on the supply wire are spaced too close together. You need to set your wire in at a slight angle and hope for the best as you sc...
Hello and Thank you for your comments. With 16 gauge wire being the smallest gauge low voltage cable that we sell it is more important to keep the ca...

There must be better
Would Not RecommendThis didn't work well at all. Ended up striping wires (or more like notching the insulation), which will probably speed up the corrosion.

Great Connector
Would RecommendI have tried various low voltage connectors & this one rates as the very best as it is very easy to use & connected my low voltage light to the cable perfectly the 1 st try. I would definately recommend this product & do not understand the negative postings as I had no trouble & I am definately ont an electrical genius. My only question is the pricing staategy employed by Lowe's on this product. I could buy 2 connectors for $6.18, or I could buy 1 connector for $6.18 -- any guess as to which pac...
Tried the others
Would RecommendI have tried the Malibu connectors which you have a grey and black plastic and try to squeeze them together. This type works well if you have a new connection but if you are trying to reconnect an older lighting fixture these are time consuming and only seem to work 1/2 the time. The other type that I have tried is the one that screw on these I have not been able to get these to work. in this model you insert the fixture wires blindly into the connection. That leaves the ones at Lowes. If you ar...
Doesn't work well at all
Would Not RecommendLike the previous reviewer mentioned, the spikes on the vampire taps are too short. I bought an eight light kit, and only two worked. I even tried splicing in the line that the kit came with, and the taps still wouldn't make a connection. After getting out a voltmeter I found that there was power to the line, and continuity from the connector to the lamp. The only point of failure is that tap.
Hello and Thank you for your comments. We have designed and tested this connector so that it works with 12, 14 and 16 gauge low voltage cable that is...

Beware, 16 gauge wire or smaller
Would RecommendThe reason I gave this product an average rating is because the MAXIMUM size of the wire to be spliced in to the feeder line appears to be 16 gauge or smaller like 18 or 20 gauge. If you look at the second picture provided, The feeder line, the continuous line shown on the bottom of the device, can be 12 gauge as I tested that. The tap line, the one shown to terminate in the device MUST BE 16 gauge or SMALLER. I tried 14 gauge and it simply will not fit into the opening, and the channel to line ...
Great Product
Would RecommendI have used over 100 on many different lights and wire size 10 gauge to 16 gauge. I have installed low voltage lighting for the past 10 years this is the fasts connector I have ever used .
Garbage, poor design
Would Not RecommendI had used Portfolio #0091099 connectors with great success. When I went to purchase more, the new style (#0378229) is the only one that Lowe's had on the shelves. These new style connectors are awful. What should be about a 3 minute job took me almost a half hour before I could get a successful contact connection made. The design is poor as the "spikes" are not long enough to make good contact with the wires from the fixture. Please, Portfolio, do not abandon the older design.

Good concept but doesn't work all the time
Would Not RecommendWhen connecting the light the smaller wires may not line up right over the prongs. As a result piercing the wire sheathing can be difficult to accomplish. If you get the contacts to pierce the sheathing then they work just fine.

Workable with Modification
Would RecommendThis connector is workable but requires a small modification if you are using 14 gauge wire. My landscape lights came with 14 gauge wire and it would not fit through the small hole on the Connector. The packaging says "For use with 16 AWG minimum.," so I expected no problem. Wrong! I had to pull out my Dremel and increase the size of the entry hole on the Connector in order to push the 14 gauge wire into the hole. Albeit it only took me about a minute per Connector, it was unexpected hassle to d...
Best Connector
Would RecommendI have tried several other quick connectors when installing landscape lighting, and these are by far the best. I saw some of the other reviews regarding wires that were too small to align properly, but obviously the wires on my fixtures were the proper size. This connector made a good connection the first time on eight fixtures I recently reinstalled.
junk junk junk -Like others, fixture cable problem
Would Not RecommendI, like the other reviewers, could not get a viable connection to the light fixture. I tried them on two different fixtures, neither would line up properly because the wire was too small. I tried splitting the wire, weaving the wire, nothing I could do would make a reliable connection. Model 91099 is a better bet for me, but does require stripping the ends of the cable. That's why I wanted to try these instead. Avoid these.
It might take a little effort
Would RecommendSo, I purchased these to connect 8 new LED lights. This is my first time using this type of connector, however, I do have some experience with wiring. I installed all 8 of them and upon power up, half were working. After I took the non-working ones apart, I noticed the wire coming from my fixture was a bit smaller than the connector was designed for. I used a small screw driver to align the wire on the pins and they worked great from there.
Not universal enough
Would Not RecommendCould not make it work for me. Could not make a viable connection with the wires from the light fixture. This is a million dollar problem looking for a good solution.
