Poor design

I purchased this log splitter June of 2020 and already I had to do do major fixes on it twice already. First the motor kept cutting out. Tore the whole housing apart and found the manufacturer placed the kill switch wire directly on the motor header and the insulation on the wire melted off leaving the bare wire to ground out stalling the engine. Now I was towing the log splitter from a work site and one of the wheel barrings came out damaging the axel and almost left me stranded on the side...

Bought online and did not know it came unassembled. It was loaded on my truck with a Forklift so be prepared to find a way to unload. If you are not mechanical inclined beware of having to assemble. The machine itself seems to be built ok so we will see how it holds up. I'm upset with myself for not doing better homework not at the machine itself.

Make sure all hoses are tight before use

At first glance it appears to be a well-built machine and I don’t doubt that it’s not well-built at least the quality of the parts seem to be good my only issue with the machine is when I got it almost all of the hydraulic hoses were loose and leaking fluid when I started to run the machine and I had to tighten them all myself I just think whoever put it together did not take their time and doing so now that it is completely put together and tightened up everything seems to be in working order A...

Third time the charm??

The first log splitter delivered to us had cracked high pressure hoses and an engine full of water. We retuned it and had it replaced with the same log splitter. That one only lasted an hour before spraying hydraulic fluid everywhere so we returned it too. We decided to try one more time, and the THIRD log splitter we received has (so far) been working the way we had expected it to. This is not a cheap item or small item to have to deal with going through three of them before one works.

Factory Hydraulic Hose is Too Short

The first time I tried to use mine vertically the engine stalled. Turned out the hydraulic hose was too short and crimped when you tip it up, shutting down the engine. That is a serious design flaw.

Great splitter for homeowners and farmers!

Love this log splitter! So far, easy to start and operate. Doesn't take or use much gas either! Come setup from Lowes with hydraulic oil and engine oil. Ready to go!

Log splitter was assembled incorrectly, hydraulic lines would kink when standing splitter upright, wheel bearing cap was missing and no one at lowes could help me find it or correctly compensate me. Also unit was low on hydraulic oil. After fixing these several problems myself the splitter has performed fine on about a cord and a half of wood.

This log splitter does the job! Mine came already assembled from the store and it started right up when I got it home. The operation is very simple and I am happy with its performance so far! I would recommend this product.

Make sure the manual comes with your order

Haven't used the product yet. It didn't have a manual that should have come with it. The delivery people were very nice but the item was loaded onto a different truck than the one that came to deliver it. Can I get a manual??

The machine is good, but the assembly was not.

The log splitter itself is a good machine, powerful, and a good value for the price. However, the Lowe's employees who put it together leave much to be desired. After towing it home, we found one bolt and nut on the frame completely gone, and another about to fall off, which was barely holding it together. If it had fallen off, the splitter would have fallen off the frame while we were driving down the highway. The permanent cap for the hydraulic fluid that has the dipstick was missin...
