Wondered why no birds were eating this food

Very few birds were visiting the feeder snd the ines that came did not eat it. After reading the reviews, I think I know why.What a waste.

Bugs and mold!

I purchased a large bag of Pennington bird seed. I was looking for a higher quality seed that didn't have so much corn in it. Pennington bird seed looked great! I put it into a clothes container. The next week when I opened it up, there were thousands of bugs in it! I called the company, but they wouldn't do anything. A month later when I opened it up there was mold everywhere! Too much milo

Did purchase the Classic Seed for years. However, there is now more milo than any other ingredient. Birds do not eat milo! There is so much waste. If the amount of milo significantly decreases, I would consider purchasing the Classic Seed in the future.

Too much wheat kernels

The latest bag of Pennington Classic Wild Bird Feed contains too much wheat kernels which the birds won't eat. The wheat ends up under the feeder attracting skunks.

I will not buy this product agsin

Too many sticks in the seed. The sticks clog the holes In the feeder

Too much debris....again!!

I just purchased a bag of Classic Wild Bird Feed and once again there is an abundance of debris in the seed, so much that I cannot use it in my feeders as it clogs the access ports for the birds. This is not the first time this has happened, but this is by far the worst occurrence...I would rather have generic brand at this point, as it has been better quality.

Pitiful Bird Seed

I bought this seed in 2023 and no local birds would eat it. I accidentally bought it again this year (forgot it was the same brand) and amazingly, NO birds come to the feeder. I got disgusted and put it out on a flat tray hoping SOME ANIMAL (bears, turkeys, any animal) might eat it but after 3 days none was eaten. Not sure what is in this seed - maybe some chemicals the birds can smell? - but do not buy it.

Poor excuse for not using recyclable bags.

Pennington's excuse for not using or creating recyclable bags for the bird seed is that it needs to be durable enough to hold the bird seed and the weight. That is ridiculous. There are many recyclable bags that are incredibly durable that hold more than 20 30 40 50 lb of bird seed and other materials. Change over because it will cost them money. So they would rather ruin the world by polluting then doing the right thing.

Changed cheaper formula is terrible

This product costs the same - quite expensive - but now contains a great volume of little red seeds that the birds won't eat. These seeds are left and not consumed after all the rest is picked out. If I wanted this low quality of seeds I would have bought the "Economical Bird Seed" which in this case amounts to the same thing, but at a greater price. Last year had better quality. What happened? This is a RIPOFF!!!!

10 lb bag doesn't weigh 10 lbs

We have been buying this product every 2 months for about 2 years, our only complaint is that when we went to weigh it today we find that it weight 9.6 lbs! We have been cheated all this time! Please correct this. Thx

I won't buy this product again

We have 2 platform feeders the doves come to and 2 tube feeders for the smaller bird There is so much waste with this food one seed is a reddish color. The birds will not eat it, they throw it out of the feeders.

Will not buy again!

We have used this feed for many, many years. The last bag sat in the feeder (that normally would be empty in less than a week) for several weeks. The birds would not touch it. It was filled with pieces of twigs, debris and millet. We had to scoop it all out, throw it away, and replace with better feed. A complete waste of time and money. I would give zero stars if possible.

It seems to vary different times I buy it Also depends on were I buy it. Maybe they make better quality for different stores. Sometimes it is basically mostly the little red seeds the birds don't eat.

I have been feeding our local birds for years with this

I use the product in two bird feeders. The birds keep coming back, so they must enjoy it I would have rated it at the full 5 stars were there an indication as how to recycle the plastic bag my 50lbs of seed comes in. Folks who feed the birds are usually recyclersr

Changed formula and now it's terrible

I always bought Pennington bird seed. They recently changed their mixture of seeds. A lot of junk tiny white seeds that the birds don't like and just throw out of the feeders. Very disappointed. Used to be a good all around bird seed and now 80% of it is junk.

I will not support them anymore

I buy two bags a month and have been a loyal customer for years. Since 2020, your prices have steadily risen and the quality has gone down. There are more sticks, dirt, junk. I did not know that my birds ate sticks, interesting. I suggest to ALL other Pennington users... BUY FROM ANOTHER SUPPLIER. Do not continue to reward Pennington for this dishonest practice of adding crap that birds don't eat to the mix and charging us more. I will pay more for real seed without the crap. Complaining but not...

Too much dust in product.

When I first started using Pennington Classic Wild Bird Feed, it was great and the birds loved it. But lately it has been so full of dust that the birds won't eat it. This hasn't always been the case. I feel I must find a different bird feed. I don't want to miss my Painted Buntings this year.
