Not great once summer heat showed up
Would Not RecommendI planted in spring after spreading topsoil over bare spots. The seed germinated and the grass came in good. Everything looked good through the end of June here in SE Michigan. By the end of July the grass drying out and thinning. I would not recommend this product as a long term solution. I would like my money back.x

It was very hot and dry in the south
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had a terrible heat wave and no rain. This seed struggled to take. I would water the spots I treated but they were in full sun and the seed struggled to grow. In the one area I had treat that was partial shade, it grew better but still lacked the fullness I was aiming for. It would probably be better suited to a more favorable, mild climate.

I had to wait to leave a GREAT review.
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hear me out. You have no knowledge of grass, when yo grow it, where to put it, how to spread it, if you need to water it etc. Well...that's me. I'm new to home ownership and I had quite a bit of bald patches around my yard. I followed the instructions on the bag and now I have lush grass that doesn't hurt when we run around barefoot. It took about a solid month before it fully came in, but BOY did it. It's so thick and beautiful. Now I feel lik...

This was so easy to use
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 3 basic steps that even I couldn't mess up. No mixing with top soil, no rototiller, just a rake and water.

Can see growth a little growth
Would Not Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I spread the seed in multiple areas that needed grass. Sun was plentiful in some areas, shaded in others. We received a lot of rain over the past few weeks, so I was hopeful for good rooted blades of grass to shoot up once the sun came out. I am seeing some grass growth, but it's sparse. Maybe it's bad luck, maybe it's too much rain, maybe it dried out when the sun came out, but I'm not impressed with what I'm seeing.

Would buy Penninton grass seeds again
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great. Had to wait 2 weeks, because hubby was determined he would do the seeding. Did not take long to actually place in the needed spots. We had rain off and on, and where the ground was level it filled in nicely. I think some of the spots that were on the hill were washed down, and filled in the areas below them. lol. Still grew some lovely grass. It is very true that you need to plan on at least 4 weeks for it to fill in the areas, but...

works pretty good
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Took a while to take but it grew up in the patches. Nothing remarkable but it did grow.

It should be a crime to market this grass seed this way. This is about 1 lb of grass seed covered in 19 lbs of “fertilizer”. Bag says it covers 4000sqft. It might if you only put once seed of grass per square foot. It might grow great but you will only get a thick lawn if you use this to cover 100sq ft. What a scam!

Great product for pet patches
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this to patch where the yard was brown from my pets. I watered everyday and it filled the area. I loved having the grass back but found it was not the same as my other grass so it stood out. I plan to resend in the fall. It works to patch those stubborn areas

Dies after quick results
Would Not RecommendPlanted it in late spring in fresh topsoil and starter fertilizer. Shot up in record time. Grew thick and fast. I was thrilled and amazed. Then June hit and when the weather hit 80's, almost every blade of grass turned brown and dried up. I have huge patches of burned out grass that I will have to do all over again this fall or next spring. Contacted Pennington about a refund and will get one, but they commented that "contractors mix is used by contractors, so I wouldn't be using it again". Tell...
