Finicky to set up, but an excellent tool

The in-feed and out-feed tables are on the same plane when the in-feed table is not tightened down. As soon as you tighten it down after finding the depth of the cut you are looking for, the in-feed table adjusts ever so slightly so that it is not in plane with the out-feed table. This ends up giving you a slightly trapezoidal cut instead of square. It was extremely annoying to see the in-feed table not stay in its original position as you tighten it down. Porter Cable Bench Top Jointer

I bought this unit today. De-greased, waxed, and assembled per instructions. Then squared the fence to the table, checked blade height and parallelism(mine came set perfectly). I set the infeed table at 1/32". Tried a piece of Red Oak scrap to test my setup. I noticed in running it through the first time the fence can be distorted if too much pressure is applied. Great Performance & Value

I was a bit skeptical when I purchased this jointer. Wasn't sure if it would have the power and durability to handle hardwood. I am building coffee tables out of old 2 1/2" thick reclaimed barn beams made from Oak, Hickory and Walnut. This jointed has performed amazingly well. Obviously, due to the thickness of the material I am jointing, had to keep depth of cut at 1/16" or less, but this jointer handled all three hardwoods amazing well. disappointed

I know this is an entry level jointer, but I was expecting more. I expected it to not leave knife marks and a 2 lines on the board I was working with. I only used it 7 or 8 times on soft pine and it just got worse. The fence left me feeling unsure if I set it right. It seemed very easy to set incorrectly. I don't expect to have to level knifes and fences on a brand new product. I'm returning it and saving up for a better quality jointer.

Poor chip extraction

The design of the product has a problem with chip extraction in my opinion. Even with the shop vac hooked up, the chips get clogged and start getting ejected by the cutter after a few cuts. I think someone else mentioned how the chute angles up and I think that is what makes for a really poor flow. It's annoying enough that I plan on returning it. Perfect for my small shop/garage..

This jointer is perfect for any shop that is limited on space. As a few others have said it is great for what it is made for doing. It is not made to joint 8ft long boards. I have no problems jointing anything up to about 48-56" boards; however, if you build infeed and outfeed support tables I'm sure you could go longer than that. I have been needing a jointer for some time but don't have the space for a large style. Therefore, until I have the space I didn't want to spend alot. Terrific bench top jointer/planer

This bench top jointer has useful features - out of the box it set up perfectly square. The fence is straight at 90 degrees and also does a very accurate 45 degree bevel. The first board put through it was an 8/4 piece of Walnut - which was joined to another just like it - perfect join. not sure what all of the bad reviews are about... I bought this hoping that i did not experience any of the issues i read about... and I DID NOT. I followed the instructions and cleaned off the anti rust oil and waxed the table. i aligned the fence with my square and started jointing. i needed to clean up the edges of some oak that my table saw left a little burned, not to mention some blade marks..... Great addition to my workshop

Love this new addition. Works great for truing up my planks and boards for laminating and produces blocks and signs with seamless precision. Love it.

Bench jointer

Had it three weeks, so far so good. Pretty easy to set up very easy to use. I can't say enough good things about it so far. I've used it on two projects now,sure makes things a lot easier. Great value.

OK for the money, but a bad fence for precision

Can't beat it for the price

Great product for the PRICE. The blade are set perfect out of the box. But the tables are not perfect, short boards are fine but at about 3ft my boards were out about 1/64. Simple fix the feet the infeed table sit on are a perfect spot for a shim I used some tin foil to level everything out. Now at 6ft it is out such a small amount I can't even measure it. Good enough

I straightened 4/4, 6/4, and some softer 8/4 boards on it. No troubles. Not sure why everyone says setup takes 30 minutes... I was using about 10 minutes after cutting the tape on the box. I jointed 6ft long boards with it sitting on my garage floor. Just apply pressure with the 2 push blocks provided right after the cutter head and the longer boards move thru fine. Used For Picture Frames

I use this to work wood to make picture frames. It does what I need but would be better if the table where made from a harder material. Would suggest to a friend depending on what they plan on using it for.

Just bought the Porter Cable Bench Jointer today, but I am a long time user. I had the Delta model for the last 13 years, exactly the same as this one. Through all of the buyouts of tool companies, it looks like this design survived with a new name. My old one finally died (motor stopped). great value for the money

after reading some reviews i bought the Jointer dispite some bad remarks. well folks read the directions. took about 30 minutes to clean and assemble the Jointer. blades needed slight adjustment . took maybe ten minutes to adjust them. for the home diy you cant go wrong here if you use it for what it was intended to do. ordered this on monday and it arrived tuesday so lowes shipping is top notch.

After lots of searching and reading of reviews, I narrowed down my choice of bench jointers to either this Porter Cable or a Grizzly at several dollars more.
