Great Tool

I messed all day trying to plane some violin plates with a hand planer, when online and googled searched and read the reviews, went and bought this Bench Jointer. 3 hours later my violin plates where planed and glued.. the joints require a tight fit for violin plates, tight enough that no light can be seen when looking at the joint. I planed the flat side first and the planed the edge. Left in first picture is harder wood of light flamed maple and on right is spruce.

Great for the DIY

I am a DIY'er so I can't speak as a professional woodworker and I haven't had a lot of time on the jointer. This jointer is good for probably 6' pieces of lumber and smaller, maybe even shorter. The longer the piece the harder it is to manage due to the inlet and outlet table being so short. The quality is good, the motor seems to have sufficient power, all controls have easy access and at a great price. The only drawback is the table length.

Would be nice if it wasn't for the cheap fence.

Bought this and returned it on the same day, probably get the Shop Fox for the exact same price on Amazon. The cheap aluminum fence just doesn't fit with the otherwise great features, solid cast iron build and the bolted tables means it's more adjustable. Even the Shop Fox I will most likely end up getting in place of this I'm not happy about since it doesn't have the same depth of cut measure. great product for the price

I just bought this yesterday. I read all the reviews here and I was worried. I looked the unit over at my local Lowes. I checked the tables and the fence operation. I found them to be acceptable and easy to adjust. I am just getting into wood working and really wanted to get a jointer for a few projects I want to do. I found that there are no plastic parts on the fence or tables. The only plastic was on the knobs to adjust the fence. I was able to easily get the fence square and it doesn't ...

Not impressed with the plastic or the jack screw adjustment, its not built to last. However, I bought a Delta to replace this unit and it was worse. Keeping the PC for now.

Surprisingly Happy.

I purchased this jointer with some hesitation. Obviously the slew of negative reviews on this site was a clear reason NOT to buy it, but I was in need of a jointer and just didn't have the means to buy anything else and most used jointers have been put through the ringer and need a good amount of TLC before they are up to snuff. Porter Cable Jointer

I bought this a few months ago and have had an ok experience so far. Like others my complaint is that the fence was difficult to get set squarely and the dust chute plugs quickly if taking an aggressive cut on a 3 or 4" board. For the money it works well to square up edges on 2" and narrower material and leaves behind a smooth face.

First Jointer

I have recently gotten into woodworking. Bought this jointer today for my first one after researching many, many jointers and watching many, many Youtube videos. Setup was very simple and easy. I took a lot of time to be sure that I did everything right, so setup time doesn't count for me. Junk

Works alright on really small stuff but don't try anything longer than 48 inches. The out feed table starts to bend as the work piece is at the end of the pass. The number 1 complaint I have is I cannot change one of the blades. The bolt holding the blade to the cutter head was way over torqued from the factory and I rounded the hex when trying to remove it. Great tool at a great price

Bought this about three weeks ago as I tooled up my first wood working shop. Also bought a great Porter Cable planer but that's a different review. This jointer was simple to set up and use and I've never used a jointer, in any way, prior to this one. It is very accurate with the fence and table being square right out of the box. Very stable

I used it to bevel scribe molding to make a 45 deg outside corner. This jointer did not walk or wiggle so the corner worked perfect. The scribe was 1/4" thick not a recommended item to be used on this jointer. The jointer could use a angle gage on the back fence. I had to use an adjustable square to set it at 22 1/2 deg. Would recommend this product.

Great benchtop tool

I purchased this jointer about 6 months ago and have used it quite often since. I have nothing but good things to say about it's performance in my basement shop. The fence and tables are very sturdy and well machined. To be able to buy a 6" jointer at this price and get the performance that it delivers is outstanding. I believe that it will be a valuable part of my shop for years to come.

An Excellent Jointer

The jointer was easy to assemble and get into operation. Adjustments are straightforward. Dust collection system is OK. Because it is so light, it has to be fastened down. Haven't used it enough to challenge it, but it appears to be as good as advertised.

Great bench top tool

I used the Porter Cable Jointer today to prepare oak to build a custom country style dining table. The jointer ran smoothly and did a great job. I have wanted to get a larger jointer but because of the space in my shop I decided to go with the bench jointer and am glad. I will use this tool many times in the future! GREAT BUY!

Great Joiner

Used it a few times on Pine lumber. The boards were very smooth no sanding need. Came with good instructions, assembled in 20 min. Very easy to adjust the blade height. Would highly recomend using vacuum or some type of dust collection while planing lumber as the saw dust will clog the dust port quickly. mother than that its a great machine for small wood working shops.

Great for the little shop!

I have a small basement shop loaded (LOL) and room is premium. The jointer was a replacement for my old Craftsman 4 inch that I resurrected some years ago and did what it needed it to do. With the aggravation of finding new blades and the 4 inch restriction, I decided now was the time for an update. Out of the box, everything was square and right less the minor assembly. I'm a beginner woodworker and had been wanting a jointer for quite some time. This was a great purchase! Bought for the hubby but so easy to use I can run it! make a rough pallet board smooth as a babies bottom with this machine which i can use for signs to paint or wood burn on.
