What Customers Are Saying
The jointer is generally well-received and capable for hobbyist and small-scale woodworking, with praise for its performance, value, and ease of use. However, some users report issues with fence adjustment and alignment, as well as quality control problems. Overall, the jointer appears to be a solid choice for budget-conscious woodworkers, though it may require extra effort to set up and maintain precision.

Would Recommendthis jointer is a good product and value dose a great job
Very nice ..
Would RecommendSetup was a breeze but getting the fence perfectly true was a little difficult. It was easy to square up but when I would tighten it down it would move. Eventually I got it nailed but it wasn't as easy as I would have like and it would also be nice if the fence was a little longer. As for the planing .. it was excellent. I did get snipe when I ran something cross grain but that is to be expected. I only ran some Birch but that's a good test due to the hardness. The dust port screws on the bottom...

Please, don't waste your fuel
Would Not RecommendThis jointer isn't worth the fuel it take to drive it home. Extremely disappointed given my past good experience with Porter-Cable products. Impossible to get the blades adjusted properly. I spent hours with a machinist square, bright light and magnifying glass and it never seemed to help any. I always ended up with snipe or some other form of curvature. Tools shouldn't be that stubborn to adjust. Both the infeed and outfeed tables contain deep machine marks that sound like an old phonograph rec...
Don't know how this only scored a 3.5 star rating.
Would RecommendI was very skeptical of purchasing this only because of the reviews it got. I unboxed it, put the fence on, put the blade lock and blade guard on and went to town on some practice wood. The wood sat awesome on both the outfeed and infeed tables after the jointing was done, only being off by about 1/64 [not totally perfect but more than good enough for me and my current budget]. The piece of wood i used was 24 11/16 inches long...so the little bit that it was off, which can be fixed by adjusting ...
Good product - And it bounces.
Would RecommendVery simple to assemble out of the box, and very simple to bring to square. The variable speeds are a nice touch. I gave it an EXTREME test with an 8 ft board. I used 2 assistants rather than set up in-feed and out-feed tables. Believe it or not, after 2 or 3 tries they got the hang of it and I had almost no snipe at all. Shorter boards were nearly perfect. I just got it so I can't opine on knife life, but so far so good. Oh - and by the way - I dropped it and it still works just fine.

Not worth the money
Would Not RecommendI looked over the demo unit in the store over and it seemed to be a decent unit. After reading all the poor reviews and table issues I decided to check the tables first. They were out of line. I also checked flatness of the tables and neither one was flat. The infeed table was rounded so bad the differance between the right side and left side was nearly 3/16 inch. The outfeed table was bowed about 1/16 inch in the middle. If they were out of line they could be shimmed, but there really isn't any...
Awesome product
Would RecommendI don't know why so many are bad mouthing this product, I purchased mine over a year ago and have had no troubles. Setup was easy, removed the oil and waxed it as instructed and it just works like a champ!
Didn't work at all!
Would Not RecommendI bought this jointer despite some of the negative reviews at my local Lowes store. Big mistake! I unpacked it, cleaned the machine oil off, waxed the infeed and outfeed tables as directed, installed the fence and blade guard, squared the fence to the tables, and checked the blade height and they were fine from the factory. I followed the instructions step by step only for it to be a big waste of time! I plugged it in after the setup to try it out, flipped the power switch and absolutely nothing...
Great Product at a Reasonable Price!
Would RecommendI wanted to post a review for those considering this jointer to add another viewpoint rather than the negative reviews I have seen. I think the most important aspect of being able to rate a product fairly is to consider what it was designed to do. This jointer by Porter Cable is designed for smaller scale edge jointing/planing with a maximum width of material you can joint/plane being 6 inches. In my opinion it does exactly what the company promotes the product to do and does it quite well for o...
Not the same old Porter Cable
Would Not RecommendThe Stanley Tool Group bought Porter Cable and DE Walt some years back and their quality went down the drain. I switched to Hitachi and Bosch only.
Works For Me
Would RecommendI purchased this Jointer for smaller jobs and it does what I expected. It's not a $$$ big money Jointer, so if you are doing more professional jobs and need precision cutting, look somewhere else. The only problem I encountered was trying to install the blade lock, I could not loosen the hex head screw and stripped it out a little bit.
good product for the money
Would RecommendI bought this and when I got it home I tested it, and found I had to re-adjust the cutting knives to height, and level, but after that it it cut perfect. I have made a few small projects at home and I am very pleased with the edging of this product. no gaps and perfectly straight. I would have given it 5 stars, but I do not think it is very good on much bigger projests, because the table is to small, but for the money it is working great for me. I really like it.
Was I warned... or did I not listen?
Would Not RecommendJust bought this jointer, in spite of the many negative reviews. The table does seem to be square, and yes the fence is somewhat flimsy even with a light touch, but there will have to be adjustments on the relative levels of the blade and infeed/outfeed table. Haven't gotten around to that yet. But one minor annoyance/major irritation has surfaced. PC says they have a 4" diameter dust port? I think not... it might handle a 4" diameter port from the rectangular outlet with a well-designed transit...
Not what I've come to expect from Porter Cable
Would Not RecommendPorter Cable used to be known for solid, durable, accurate construction. That is certainly not reflected in this jointer. This jointer is quite cheap, so I'm not super astonished at the sacrifices in quality. I guess I was just a little hopeful Porter Cable wouldn't cut as many corners as have already been aparent. So far, I've had to shim the rip fence and adjust the blade level right out of the box. The rip fence being out of square with the feed table lengths and not adjustable in that dimen...
Almost Acceptable. Almost.
Would Not RecommendI really wanted this jointer to work for me. I've just been getting seriously into woodworking over the past year and a half, and this is my first jointer, but even I can tell this one isn't too great. I don't really know what's fair to expect at such a low price for a jointer, but as others have warned, mine has an in-feed table that just isn't ground flat. It falls off substantially, by between 1/32nd and 1/16th of an inch over the last couple inches before the cutting head. That might not sou...
Table top jointer
Would Not RecommendThis is very poor quality. The table is warped the fence is warped this is not worth the money!!!! There is no way to ajust the infead table or out fead table you have to take the table off and grind the bottom but this does no good when evrything is warped. Dont wast youre money step up to a better machine!
Great jointer
Would RecommendJust got this planer home, took about 10 minutes to set up and it works great. I should probably have waited until I use it for a while before writing a review but for now it works great. The only issue I have is with the fence design, the adjusting knobs hit each other making it hard to adjust the fence. Overall great product
