Outstanding!!!

I can't imagine a better jointer for a hobbyist to use at home for under $300. I bought mine on sale for $229 but it's a bargain even at full price. This jointer has cut birch, walnut, hard maple, cherry, and of course pine without bogging down a bit. I even face jointed up to 5" walnut several times without issue as well. I mill my lumber for every project using the jointer for one face and one edge, planer for the other face, and table saw for the other edge. I'm still fairly new to woodworkin...

Good price and gets the job done on smaller demands. Good seal.

I was slow getting it up and running do to the dirt port could not find hosed or the right fitings for it I had to rig up hose that needed off size fitings But I got running and it works Thanl god for duck tape

It's Porter Cable quality!...what else do u expect

I wanted a big shop sized. Power tool to make resawing and shaping easier... then I realized that I could build extension beds myself and rely on the Porter Cable quality that I've always trusted! So far so good!

Good Jointer

Perfect for around the house wood shop. Have used it on two projects and it did s flawless job.

Smooth set up and use

Been going back and forth on whether or not to pick up this jointer. I was concerned about the negative reviews I read but did not have any of the challenges a few others had. I followed the instructions step by step to set it up and was able to set up it and have it all squared up in under 30 minutes. After buying it The next day I was using it and I couldn't get the blades out the screw was stuck and I tried everything

Works great. Does what it is supposed to. Very affordable. The fence does require a bit of work to get a perfect 90 degrees but once set, remains accurate.

Don't let the Price Fool You- Great Value, Product

After assembly, and making the required adjustments, I can say that this might look small and unable to do the job, but it is a great little jointer. Compact enough for under the bench storage, but it flattens and joints wood like a big model would. I found that working on a red oak project, that taking several light cuts and using light pressure with the gripper blocks, you get great results. Well, it did work

Worked well for the first 20 minutes I got to play with it before it stopped working. Just bought it yesterday and it was working really well at first, then I turned it back on again and it only made a humming sound but it wasnt turning over so i thought the capacitor was bad... upon further inspection when I was breaking it down trouble shooting it, I found the motor shaft was locked up (capacitor was good)... come to find out the mount that the front bearing was in (plastic) was cracked in 3 p...

Aluminum milled surfaces

I would've rated this unit 5 stars except for one reason. The swirl marks or divots on the milled surfaces of the jointer beds create drag from input to exit. I added vinyl peel and stick material to each surface. Will test tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Poor experience.

I owned the jointer for about 6 hours. After spending way too much time attempting to adjust the fence to 90 degrees I decided to return it. When I set the fence at 90 degrees to the in feed table it was way off on the out feed table. I played musical shims to no avail. The fence (aluminum) and its mounting seem flimsy. I Love It

I use a lot of store bought 2x4, etc stock that is unfinished so I purchased this jointer to make nice flat corners on the stock I use for my diy projects. The setup was fairly simple and I didn't even adjust the blades (they seemed to work just fine right out of the box). The first time I ran a piece of 2x4 through the jointer I was blown away by how perfectly smooth the one face was and how gorgeous the sharp edge now was! Good for 4ft

Love my new jointer and make wood level and smooth. Only quandary is that any lumber longer then 4ft you need to build a custom outfeed table, but product is reliable and accurate. Love porter cable products and lowes Rep was especially helpful.

Works Perfect!

Despite the negative reviews (maybe those who don't know their specs) I found this to be dead on, on table co-planers and levels. Out of the box, no adjustment necessary. Maybe I was lucky as most times some adjustments are necessary, albeit minor. The table is a cast aluminum. I have faith in cast aluminum as long as one is not tossing it about an industrial shop. Better than the ratings give credit

I do alot of woodworking. I buy rough cut and 3-sided planed soft and hard woods. I cut everything down to 3' or less, then plane and joint. I Purchased this Porter Cable from Lowes instead of the brand I wanted because it was the only one in town I could buy without waiting 30 to 45 days for my preferred brand to be delivered. 3 stores in town stopped carrying bench top Jointer altogether, 2 stores had the larger floor styles, but I didn't want to spend the big bucks. Adapter for dust port

Questions on here about connecting the badly-sized dust port on this jointer to a shop vac. Go to the Plumbing Department, and buy a 2" x 2" flexible rubber coupling with a hose clamp at each end. Force one end over the dust port. The other end will fit a 2" shop vac hose if you clamp it down enough.

Perfect for my kind of wood working.

I just bought this recently, and I have never used a jointer before. Setup wasn't difficult, and I had it functional in about an hour. I have watched a couple of reviews on YouTube, and most were positive given the price point of this tool. Setup was pretty straight forward, take the time to check angles on machine, mine came out right on. Easy to setup and operate seems to work quite well, haven't had mine long. I like this machine.
