What Customers Are Saying
The jointer is generally well-received and capable for hobbyist and small-scale woodworking, with praise for its performance, value, and ease of use. However, some users report issues with fence adjustment and alignment, as well as quality control problems. Overall, the jointer appears to be a solid choice for budget-conscious woodworkers, though it may require extra effort to set up and maintain precision.

Would Not Recommendguard kept sticking. after i was done with machine and about to shut the machine off I accidentally chopped the tip of my left index finger off. It would not be possible if the guard was functioning properly but it wasnt. Instead it was stuck open and I accidentally touch the blade while it was running.
Fits my needs
Would RecommendAlthough the table is a bit short for longer pieces of wood, the jointer works well, was easy to assemble and really puts a good edge on my work. I believe that o joint 6+ feet pieces, I will need to build an indeed and out feed table to get the most from it. The price was right and I would definitely recommend it. I have a Dewalt planer and this complements it well.

Too small for the job I had
I was building a cherry trestle table and acquired some 6/4 rough cut cherry that I needed to surface plane and edge joint. I bought the Porter Cable jointer and did a couple of practice cuts before tearing into my good lumber. The tool did a good job on the surface planing but the lumber was too heavy and long for me to keep the edge on the outfeed table for a consistent joint. The machine did a great job on shorter pieces. If you’re going to go over 5 foot lengths, you may have some proble...

It does the job
Would RecommendI picked this up because I have a ton of pallet wood to straighten. Since pallet boards aren't normally long, the size of the jointer is perfect. I ran 30-40 boards through it the day after I bought it. worked like a champ. set up was cake. It just plain works. I didn't give it 5 stars because I would love a bigger jointer since I have lots of regular lumber that needs to be worked too, but this item can't do it very well. overall, nice tool to get the job I need done successfully.

Great planer for the money
Would RecommendPurchased this jointer for building a farmhouse table project. The wood I used is an ash that has been kiln dried for quite a while which makes it quite hard. This jointer had no problems with this wood and handled everything I threw at it including 4" wide square legs. Its a smaller portable machine, so you have to use care when planing larger / longer pieces, but that is on the operator. If used correctly it will do a great job for the money.
great jointer
Would Recommendbought this jointer for small projects around the house. im making tables, cabinets, entertainment centers. works great. really really easy to set up. comes with detailed intsructions. set up took about 30 min, but i took my time. the only thing to really install is the back fence and the dust collector. the infeed and outfeed tables, and the the cutting blades come already assembled and in perfect alignment. all the tools you need are an allen wrench (provided), a #2 phillips screw dri...
Worth the buy!!
Would RecommendI decided to stop purchasing surfaced hardwood and begin using construction lumber. 1x2's all through 2x6's get an even face and the jointer does not show any slowing or bogging down; until the shavings become backed up as made apparent by the spewing up by the blades. A small vacuum will help with the bogging down if fast production is needed with lots of surfacing. The depth of the surfacing is very precise and does not move after being locked into place. The added bonus of paddles gets thrown...

Love the speed!
Would RecommendHaving the option to raise or lower the rpm level is sweet! Loving the dual blades as well. Best I’ve owned in 10 years.

You get what you pay for...junk
Would Not RecommendI own many Porter Cable products and have been pretty happy with them, but this is not one of those. The tables are far from co-planer and trying to adjust them is a nightmare. The results on my edge joints thus far have been disastrous. Spend the extra money on a higher quality jointer and save yourself from disappointment and frustration.
First Time User
Would RecommendHave not used it very much but seems to do well. Looking forward to putting some panels together for some cabinet doors. Wished it had 3 blades instead of 2. But so far did a good job.

Great tool, fencing needs update
Would RecommendI really love this jointer and I would certainly recommend it. The only issue I have it the fence. It was very difficult to get it square and it is a little less sturdy than I would like it to be. Each time I tightened the fence face bolt down the whole thing would shift. To remedy the issue I slid a small folded piece of paper to make it stay put. Outside of that, it does great with hard and soft wood. Be careful using pine because after a few passes the sap builds up.

7 MONTH REVIEW
Would Not RecommendHaving been well satisfied with other Porter Cable products I own, I was excited to get this un-boxed and set up. I purchased this jointer nearly 7 months ago and I was very disappointed from the start with the infeed and outfeed tables which were anything but co-planer. The infeed table was bent from end to end nearly 1/8 inch and twisted side to side by nearly 1/16. Calls to P.C. were fruitless unless I wanted to spend nearly 1/3 the cost of the jointer to ship it back to them for warranty rep...
The unsung hero
Would RecommendThis little jointer is indispensable for preparing rough boards to join side by side for table tops, etc. Even though it's not one of those tools that takes up a lot of space and it looks clumsy, it really come through. I was using it the other day to plane the face of planks 5 1/2 inches wide to make them smooth for a headboard and was very impressed that I avoided the need for a bench top planer. It's not cool to look at, you won't call your neighbor over to look at it,but it saves a lot of ...
Excellent small jointer
Would RecommendThis Machine is great for the price and great if your just starting out in woodworking if set up right will give you a perfectly flat smooth edge to glue
Don't bother
Would Not RecommendI thought this would be a great deal, I only needed to edge joint a few boards for a glue up and had a very small shop space. This was not the tool to get the job done. 1) The fence is aluminum, that's fine, but it's not flat or straight at all. 2) You cannot get the fence to be 90 degrees square to the jointer bed without spending hours working with it and giving yourself a migrain. 3) IF you can get it to square, it won't stay there, 1-2 boards and it's out again. 4) getting the knives paralle...
Fine machine
Would RecommendAfter studing all the reviews on Lowes and Amazon it was a no brainer to buy this planer. I ignored the negatives where the spelling was comical, the reviewers complained about the length of the outfeed table, basically knowing the size of the unit when they looked at it, things like that, like I said it was a no brainer. First, took about 15 minutes to set it up, a little more really since I laid all the parts out and read the book first. Second. The fence is not the best but I knew what it ...
