Very straight forward and easy to work with.

I previously purchased the Orbit Valve manifold and installed unions on each end of the valve. Who boy did that make changing this thing easy...10 minutes flat. Would have been 5 but I needed fix a wire. The valve I replaced was about 9 years old and probably wouldn't have broken but I apparently didn't get enough water out of the drip irrigation zone and the old valve froze and cracked.

Solenoid leakage and humming sound

I replaced a failed Orbit valve that I installed about 20 - 30 years ago with the Orbit model 57281. The 57281 solenoid chattered/hummed and leaked immediately. Replaced the solenoid with a new one and it did the same. Have used Orbit sprinkler valves for about 30 years and up to now they have performed well. But I do not recommend the 57281.

Failed after a year

Installed these last year and they worked all year, no problem. I drained the water out last year at the end of the year, and cleared the rest of the water out as well. For some reason, when I turned on the water this year, they started leaking. And it wasn't just a trickle, it was a full spray around half the valve. Electric Inline Irrigation Valve Replacement

Replace everything except the bottom body of the Irrigation Valve. Worked great and I didn't have to cut out the old valve body.

Warranty is worthless.

Was on Orbit's web-site and phone many times trying to get issues resolved. After 3 hours, I realized my suspicions were true. They will do anything to avoid honoring their warranty. The 6 year Warranty is worthless. Orbit finally offered me solenoids that will not work on the 57280. These valves are as bad as their drip manifolds.

Cracks and leaks

I bought 2 of theses at Lowes. Both of them Cracked and Leaked. Took them back for a refund after 90 days and was denied. DON'T BUY!! Never had a problem with the Jar type, I would buy them instead.

Valve received was not new!

This was obviously used. Water came out of the valve, the wire leads were trimmed & twisted, dirt on the exterior. The pick-up process was flawless.

New design, but louder solenoid

The valve works as it supposed to, although the solenoid seems to be louder than most of the previous ones that I’ve used. The new diaphragm system is a bit odd, which means this cannot be exchanged for any of the other items. So if you have the old style and you need to buy a new diaphragm, you’re out of luck.
