What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise this access panel for its straightforward snap-in installation, reliable spring-loaded mechanism, and seamless wall integration. Most highlight the included template, secure fit between studs, and paintable surface as key advantages. The spring-loaded tabs hold firmly without screws, and reviewers note it becomes nearly invisible once painted to match walls. A few mention minor concerns about flush fit at corners or occasional clip durability, but these are outweighed by the product's practical functionality and aesthetic appeal. Overall, most customers recommend it as an effective, discreet solution for hidden repairs.

Would Not RecommendWe are in the process of remodeling our basement and need access panels for water shut offs. The panel does cover the hole in the drywall for access to a shut off valve but it does not sit flush on the drywall on two sides of the panel. There is a spring loaded clamping device that functions well on either the top and bottom or on both the left and right of the panel depending on how it is oriented. However, with just a single spring to pull the tabs, you must choose which way to place the cover...
Easy Install
Would RecommendEasy installation. Fits between studs. Gives me access to the back of the shower fixture.
Easy install
Would RecommendHad wall cut out to repair hidden water pipe. Rather than patch the drywall, I simply installed this panel for future access. Unit comes with a paper template which I taped on the wall. Marked the cutout and used a drywall saw to make the cut. Snapped on the cover and I was done. Took about 15 minutes from start to finish. Looks great!
quick cover
Would RecommendSimple and sturdy. I used this cover an electrical subpanel. It is easy on and easy off. There is a spring that holds the cover in place. I also had no issues painting it to match to match the wall.
Designed to be functional yet blend into the backg
Would RecommendThis panel type has been around for years however this panel has been redesigned to be easier to Install, less surface area , less noticeable after installation. It comes with a label that doubles as a cut out template which is nice just trace and cut out the wall material. The back of the panel has tabs on all four corners that keep the panel in place in the cut out. The panel is held firmly in place by two spring activated tabs on two sides of the panel making installation and removal a Snap. ...
Spring Loaded Access Panel
Would RecommendReceived this product and gave to the contractor to install in our new house. He said it didn't meet the building code for the county we're in. Could be installed after final inspection but the contractor has installed a framed enclosure for access where needed. I think the product would work great in a house already built without ready access to hard to reach plumbing areas.
The Hardest Part is Cleaning Up The Drywall Dust
Would RecommendI cut a hole in my drywall in order to replace a shower valve. The hole was in a back wall of my closet. I needed to cover up the hole knowing I would not need to get back into it for a long time. The Oatey Spring Loaded Access Panel cover was just the trick. Just cut an opening hole in the drywall the same size as per the instructions (you can use the label from the front of the panel as a template). Pict 1&2 Once the hole is the proper size, open the holding clips on the back side of the panel...
Not the snug fit that I was expecting.
Would Not RecommendInteresting design but my panel has a bow that prevents it from laying flat. I do like that the spring latch can be flipped open for easy install. My dry wall is 1/2 thick. I may end up using double sided tape to help secure the cover. The paper can be used as a template.
Easy install, looks great!
Would RecommendThis access panel is super easy to install, it looks so nice when finished. It is paintable blends right into the wall . This 14 inch size allows it to be easily installed between two studs so there’s no framing, screws, or trim work to mess with . It took about 10 minutes to install. Just couldn’t be any easier! The spring loaded tabs hold it firmly in place, and make it a snap to remove.
Easy install
Would RecommendThe 14 inch panel is very convenient to cover an opening quickly. The overall dimensions will cover a space that is 15 and a quarter inches by 15 and a quarter inches. It comes with a paper that shows the outline for the hole that needs to be cut exactly and that worked out rather well. I would definitely recommend this product .
Cover Your Hole
Would RecommendNeed to access a pipe or wire behind a a wall? Once you make your hole, how do you repair the wall? Patch, plaster and paint? what a mess. Using the Plastic access panel you can cut a 14 x 14 inch hole and then insert the Oatey plastic wall cover in your 14 x 14 inch hole with an outside dimension of 15 x 15 inch. The handy clips on two sides allow you to slip the plate in the hole. You open the clips to they will slip into the whole and when you push the plate into the hole the clip latche...
Quick and easy
Would RecommendThe panel is very easy to remove when you need quick access to your waterlines. Once you’re finished, it snaps right back into place. I found that it wasn’t held firmly against the wall completely on all four corners so I put a very thin layer of foam tape on the inside to hold it against the wall with no gaps.
14-inch panel cover.
Would RecommendMy plumber made me aware of why this is important in homes. I surprised homes are not being built with this in areas of the home that may really need it.
Nice finish, easy to install
Would RecommendComes with template for cutting the opening. Panel has a clever design to spring on drywall but is not strong enough to keep the corners tight on the wall. Plastic may need to be a bit thicker. Panel has corner stiffeners shown in my picture that protrude beyond 1/2” drywall. Since my studs were closer than 16” center to center the corners hit the studs. I had to clip them off, which was easy enough with some nippers. Overall nice finish and easy install, wish the corners were a bit tighter. Tha...
Very good cover
Would RecommendI just installed this cover, the tension in the spring holding grip clips is pretty good, I thought it would slide down as I slightly overcut the section in wall but it stays put. And, its paintable, I did light mist of spray paint to blend it into wall. Overall, good product, slightly flimsy though, but does what its supposed to do, can't go wrong with it.
14" Access Panel Cover
Would RecommendThe panel cover is a very good quality and seems very durable and long lasting.. I hope Lowes will carry additional units in my buying area.
Perfect
Would RecommendI used this panel to provide access through 1/2" drywall ceiling. Easy to install. Looks and works great.

Does what it says
Would RecommendSpring load is the key. Don’t waste your time with glue. Must spent the extra dollar or so to get the spring load.
