Base spring retainer broke
Would Not RecommendInstalled as instructions said. tensioned the head bolt 180 degrees since it did nothing as installed. opened the gate and the base bolt broke and the spring spins. removed the spring and installed it horizontally, so the spring will extend and contract with the door.

Better than expected
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used this on our wooden fence gate, and it fit and works perfectly. Has just the amount of spring back without slamming the gate shut. Nice and quiet so the neighbors next door doesn't hear it when their windows are open.

Would Not RecommendOur fence was installed today. We needed to have a spring for inspection. It did it not self close properly and we were testing it for placement, after 2 openings and closings, the spring snapped right off at the end cap. It’s junk. Now I’m in a rush to find a new piece before inspection shows up.

Would Not RecommendFailed to close gate. I bought this heavy duty gate spring for a wooden gate which is made up of 2x4" frame and 6' cedar pickets. Unfortunately it failed to close the gate no matter how much tension was put on it. Eventually the hex head on the bottom came loose and wouldn't hold any tension at all.

Would Not RecommendI used this on a 6' vinyl pool fence gate and it worked great to achieve the self closing feature required by code. The self closing hinges I bought previously never had enough tension to close the gate, but this did the job.
