Patience Is The Best Virtue
Would RecommendUsed It Today 3/11/25 on 60 year old drop leaf table. Works as specified. Not for removing paint OR polyurethane. Stripper works faster but you will be pleased with final look if you have the patience to apply multiple applications. This product is for removing the Shellac/Varnish/Lacquer protective coat. After the first application, change out steel wool with each coat and use fresh Refinisher. If refinisher starts to gel when applying, wait for it to dry (10 minutes?) before applying more. Wh...

My only gripe with this product is how it's labeled. It says "restorer" but it's a stripper. It says "antique" but doesn't work on most older finishes. But if old shellac is your problem then this stuff is the solution. It works quickly and doesn't require hard scrubbing or scraping. It gets into carved details just fine. There's no mess involved. You can start and stop at your own pace. The best part is that it leaves nothing behind, so you can go straight to your final sand.
