Decent V1

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this charcoal electric because on paper it was very promising. I enjoyed using it but quickly realized it uses quite a bit more fuel than advertised and it keeping a steady temp was a task just to keep it within 15 degrees of a desired temp. Despite that it delivers quality smoke and great tasting barbecue. It just wasn't what I was looking for in the end.

Controller Issues

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this item a month ago and was very excited about getting it. The control has already gone on the fritz. This is the second one to do so. I have ordered a replacement, but if it does the same thing, I will not purchase another one. If it performs like it is supposed to, I will change my review. I am completely unhappy at this time.

So very easy to use!

Great smoker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first I had a bunch of issues and after messing around and re-reading the instruction realized I hooked up the wires from the control board to the fab wrong. Now I fixed my mess-up I can get the charcoal going, place the meat in and set the cooking and internal temperature and walk away. Everything comes out SO GOOD!!!

Died after 2nd use, stay away, complete junk

I bought this about a year ago- used it twice, both times the temp ran way up and destroyed the food. Was going to attempt a 3rd try and now the unit won't even power on. Complete junk- would be better off using a file cabinet as a smoker. NEVER WILL BUY MASTERBUILT AGAIN!

Ok product, horrible service.

smoker is OK, but service is absolutely horrible. Placed order on 7/8, rec'd confirmation email - and they certainly bill you fast enough. I have seen nothing from my 7/8 order, (didn't ship) I sent an email on 7/26 asking about my order and they don't respond to that either. What kind of company can't ship an item within a month and can't respond to an email in almost 2 weeks? Never again.

Controller is cheap

Controller is cheap it always does something different each time, blue tooth has only worked twice. Very disappointed. The old controller was way better. This one is a joke, very aggravating.

Good until the Thermocouple dies

I purchased this smoker about 18 months ago and it worked well for 11 months with about once a month use. While smoking a prime rib the meat was done much earlier than expected making me hold it at temperature for two hours before the rest of dinner was ready. While a little overdone it was still good. The next time I used it was for tri-tip, ribs, and pork butts. Again food was cooking faster than expected when I figured out the smoke box temp was 350 while set at 225. Not able to control heat, charcoil burns out to fa

I have tryed this two or three times. The wifi won't Stay connected or wont connect. No hints on web to fix problem

I like it!

I've used this item for 2 years now and it has performed great. The only issue I've had is the charcoal grate warped a little. I use the unit at least once a month so I guess 2 years, at least once a month, for 8 hours at a time, is pretty darn good! You can go out and spend way more but why. When this goes out I will definitely go back and buy a product from this manufacturer.

Masterbuilt 40 inch digital charcoal smoker

I bought this 2 weeks ago and it did not work right out of the box. I’ve submitted a form online twice already and no one calls me back. Looks like this is my first and last Masterbuilt purchase!

Love my masterbuilt products BUT

Wish you used the same control from the gravity feed smokers in this one. Love this smoker bbq l. I have the 560 bought the 40 charcoal smoker only disappointment is the digital control in it. My 560 I can smoke at 150F my 40 charcoal smoker won't set below 225. I following the homemade masterbuolt recipe for smoke bacon seem I can't use my 40 charcoal for this. How come you didn't use the same controls in both.

Didn't get 1 year out of it

We purchased with high hopes. Another junk made smoker. Didn't use it more than 4 times and it stopped working. Heat box warped. Fire box warped. I had to install door seals because of the gaps. My wife was so excited about this gift for christmas....and now Im done trying to fix it. No help fr customer service. Save yourself the trouble and by a different brand smoker.
