This thing sucks.

As a contractor, this is HORRIBLE surround. Do not buy this. By a kohler sterling unit instead. Maxx is a joke of a company. Do any of your engineers do the install? No? I assumed so. Oh let’s just have a 3 wasted bump in to the shower. Let’s angle the side wall so it looks out of plumb. Let’s not sell a tub to go with it so the tub base to surround will NEVER be secured. Crap product from a crap company sold at a box store.

I’ve seen quite a few reviews here complaining about the protrusion of the shelf making for tight quarters and throwing off the symmetry . I disagree , I have plenty of room to shower , and I am 6’4” and 270 lbs . The surround is sturdy and tight , and seems to be a quality product . It looks good . A word of warning , if you aren’t putting it in new construction or doing a complete demo down to the studs , the surround fits a bit tight , and I had to gouge the drywall to get it in . ...

Cramped, badly designed

I purchased this enclosure and had it installed the weekend of 11/30, but it was not used for the first time until Christmas. That was when we realized that there was something terribly wrong. My first thought was that it had been installed incorrectly, because who would design something so badly, much less follow through to manufacture and sell it? Amazing bath surround

Beautiful bath surround. Second bathroom we have installed this in. Love it in our first bathroom. Love the shelf and tile look. Easy to install and clean.

Turns yellow

We installed this just over 3 years ago and it is turning yellow. Soap seems to stain it easily. As you can see in the picture, this is freshly cleaned and is stained. 10/10 Do not recommend

OMG, you better be built like a twig.

I looked for something that was "universal" that I could use for my 1960's bathtub / shower. I didn't take the time to read the reviews. That's my fault. Lowes has the item on display above your head, hard to see how far the shelf actually comes out. (It is honestly installed at an angle.) When installed you will have the narrowest shower ever. Unfortunately, almost $600 later I can't afford to just throw it away. ...a waste of money and worse you will have a shower you will hate.

Ensure you have 60” minimum clearance.

As long as you have the right space and pair it with a steel tub, you wont have issues. Thoroughly inspect the product. Its hard to break so usually any breaks may have been from packaging and transporting. Look for small cracks. Other than that, absolute awesome product!

Believe the reviews! Don't buy!

The display at Lowe's is misleading. When the surround is installed it makes the shower space unusable. It is not a contractor issue it's a product issue. The back wall inset is pushed forward by the 2x4's behind the wall jutting into the bath space. Your elbow's hit the wall when you wash your hair. The only way to remedy this would be to tear everything out open the wall cut the 2x4's to fit the insert and put everything back. Now I have to tear it out and buy something new. I never write reviews. Ever! So, you know it was bad if I felt compelled to come write a review to warn others. While the product looks pretty on display, we are VERY disappointed with the product's usability! While the measurements are listed on the box, you can't fully grasp how far into the tub area the wall leans until it is fully installed...and by that point, it is too late to return because of the holes you need to put into the surround to adhere it to the wall. First time using a 4 piece instead or a 3 piece shower wall kit, I love the style and one long center shelf.
