Bolt gets jammed and does not slide smooth

We love this electronic lock.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had ours for three years and it still functions great. We tried another one but it did not have the backlight. The backlight is important to have at night. It is so convienient to be able to lock the deadbolt with a push of a button.

Easy to install and use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have vacation homes and our own home and we installed this Kwikset Electronic Deadbolt on all the entry doors. The entry codes are so easy for the owners to change; as people come and go, we just program the code for the last 4 digits of their cell phone number and it works like a charm!

Mechanical sticking issued in manual and auto

I bought this in Summer 2015 and the deadbolt has stuck extending out. It will also stick in manual mode too. It also sticks when in test mode with door open. Very disappointing because this is the second one I have purchased with issues. I am currently using it only manually and a key! Several adjustments have been made to no avail. Please help

Hard to program

Peace of mind

I bought this deadbolt a few days ago and I am very impressed. Rekeying the lock was simple, as advertised. Installation took a bit longer than expected, but that was not kwikset's fault - the builder of my home installed the strike plate about .25" too high. The screw pattern was just off enough to prevent me from using the new one included in the kit so I had to get a file and shave the bottom edge of the hole in the strike plate down so the lock would cycle smoothly, and it does. Great product but buttons no longer light up!

I've had the 909 15 SMT for years. Worked so well I got a second lock for the garage door. Great being able to work outside and not have to worry about carrying keys around anymore. Batteries last for 6 months and that's with daily use. No problems -- until tonight when the buttons on the front door lock wouldn't light up anymore. I replaced the batteries and they still don't light up. Downloaded the Troubleshooting Guide -- nothing in there about testing or resetting the button lights. Don't li...

I really can't imagine not having one.

I love the concept of this lock. It is one of the most convenient things, ever. There was a problem with the pad lighting, so you graciously sent me a replacement. I can't ask for better customer service. I moved the original lock to my garage / utility room access door. It has failed in a manner that causes me concern. The failure mode has a tendency to jam, leaving the bolt in the deployed position. I really think you guys should look at this. I will be happy to send it to you, if you desire. ...

Forgetful No More!

My son and husband both used to always forget or lose their keys, but they never forget their birthdays which became their passcodes!.. also the re-lock feature gives me an added sense of security since they sometimes forget to lock the door too. Thank you Kwikset!!

Works great after 4 years

Bought this several years ago and its still working great. The keyless concept is awesome, no more lock outs, forgotten keys, etc. The product has been problem free, the batteries last a long time (estimate 9-12 months), and it works every time. Only problem I had is that I dropped the battery case after a couple year and it cracked. Ordered a new one through their website and they sent it out free of charge! Love this lock!

Going on 2nd year of using this lock every day, and have only put in new batteries twice, counting the first set! Love the smart key feature that allows it to be keyed to a different key as needed, if needed. Also love the re-lock feature, use this all the time. If I'm in a hurry, I just run out, close the door and it locks itself 30 seconds later! You just can't beat Kwikset for dependability and ease of use.

After a year....

Worked great for 10 months, changed batteries. A couple of months later it stopped working, checked the batteries and the whole inside of the battery case and compartment is completely covered in green acid stuff. Gues I will have to look for another lock, this one is dead!

Convenience!

We needed to have a simple way to get into the house in case we lost our keys. This has been a choice. We love the convenience of not having to dig for the key to unlock the door.

Motor Stopped Functioning 5 months after purchasin

I have had the Kwikset lock in place for 5 months and it always seemed to have a hard time locking and unlocking. I took the lock apart and repositioned the deadbolt multiple times and never could get a clean locking and unlocking. As of now, 5 months after purchase, the motor makes the noise that its unlocking the door but doesn't do anything even with the lock out of the door and free of any friction. I wish I could just get this thing replaced.

No more key!!!

I own couple of these units for my houses, and impressed by ease of use and ability to change code quickly. Customer service are excellent. Love the lifetime warranty...

Stands up to the elements

I bought this lockset several years ago for ocean-front door on Galveston Island. Salt air, humidity, rust, fog, hurricanes, this lock has withstood it. I'm so impressed with the durability of this lockset, I've installed on several other properties

Reliable lock

Works well...batteries need replacing often and lock is a bit sensitive if not lined up properly w the door...love the convenience of keyless!!!
