Great weed eater

This weed eater has been in the family for about 8 years now. It still works great. It is very easy to use and still has a lot of power. It is nice that it aromatically feeds the string. Since the purchase of this model (KST 120X-06), Lowes no longer sells this model.

Can’t purchase replacement parts

Called tech support and they said only the battery and motor are under warranty everything else are wear parts and is the responsibility of the buyer. Being only 90 days old I went to order tree as instructed and they do not have KOBALT as a vendor. I threw the trimmer in the trash what a waste of money.

battery problems

so far I have had to replace 2 batteries and now the charger is not working. from what I have spent on batteries and cost of buying new charger would have been much cheaper to purchase gasoline. I purchased in jume of 15 but it has been used very little, no more than 20 hrs.

Junk- Charger failed after about a year

These originally did come with a battery and charger in the box together but after all the failed battery chargers they stopped including a battery. Both versions, the original one that came with a battery and this newer one that does not include a battery share the same model number and SKU. Save money, time, agony - trim with scissors

This Kobalt trimmer is a total piece of junk. The shaft isn't adjustable. If you are under 6-feet tall (I'm 6' 1") good luck wrasselin' with this thing. You also have to turn it upside down to use it as an edger. The line advance never works. Line gets bound up on the spool and you have to constantly stop, take the cap off, remove the spool, free the line, rewind, reinstall the spool. I have to do this about 5 times per use. It would be faster to trim your lawn with tweezers. Battery life stinks...

string trimmer with the $9 spool cover???????

The trimmer does a decent job, however the spool cover is a THIN piece of plastic which is guaranteed to wear out with minimal use. The trimmer will not run without throwing the spool if this cover is not in place. The cover is not sold anywhere except ordering from Kobalt. what a surprise!!! The cost is near $9 by the time you get it. If lucky it will last 1 season before wearing out. Come on, get rid of this obvious cash cow.

Good trimmer if the spool cover didn't break.

I had this for about 2 months when the spool cover broke. Lowes doesn't carry the replacement. I got a phone number from the Kobalt site and was able to order a new spool cover. However, it comes from China and it's been about a month and still waiting. Thinking of just going buy a new one, taking the spool cover, then returning it as missing parts.

Great price but trimmer feed is horrible

I use another brand at my dads house but they never go on sale. Saw this at a great deal at $99.99 and thought I give it a try. The trimmer feed is horrible. I spend more time feeding it myself. I should have spent the extra 50 bucks to get what I really wanted. I might try and put a different feeder system on it and see if it helps.

Weed eater

Kobalt 40 volt weed eater has great speed and power to do the job I purchased it for. Battery lasts almost one hour and is plenty of time for me to do my yard.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT buy this weed trimmer. The spool cap cover is cheap plastic and wears easily, requiring replacement in order to keep the spool attached to the trimmer. But Lowe's doesn't sell replacement spool caps, the Kobalt customer service number is constantly sold out and doesn't know when/if they will get more, and Kobalt manufacturing in Canada just told me they are on a 2-month back-order for spool caps (which are not, by the way, covered under warranty). So after less than two seasons...

Great string trimmer

I have used two battery operated pieces of lawn equipment before, it was by WORX they ARE terrible, the batteries only stayed charged maybe ten minutes, I will never buy another one, but the KOBALT'S I BOUGHT YESTERDAY THEY ARE AWESOME, THEIR BATTERIES LAST A VERY LONG TIME, THEY ARE VERY EASY TO OPERATE, I BOUGHT THE STRING TRIMMER AND THE HEDGE TRIMMER. I DO HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THEM, I BOUGHT A KOBALT AIR INFLATER, WHICH IS A SMALL PUMP, I ALSO OPERATE WONDERFULLY.

KOBALT CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS

Bought the cordless trimmer at Lowes. It does the job. Got some heavy weeds this year, went to Lowes to see if they have a metal attachment. They don't give a $#1t, told me to contact Kobalt. Called Kobalt. They only make 3 that Lowes sells. How hard can it be to look it up? Got frustrated with Tanisha, asked to speak to someone else. Left on hold FOREVER. Hung up. good, but lacking

This trimmer works good, with the automatic line feeder. The battery though seems to only last for one hour, but after an hour my arm gets tired and needs a rest anyway.

I just bought this about 2 hrs ago I am a 54 year old female and just got done using it since I haven't weeded in a while it worked great it is a little heavier then what I am used to so my arms got quite a work out I wish it had a wheel like the black a decker had so I could have trimmed my drive way better that is the only downfall this has so far that is why I gave it a 4. Hopefully it keeps on working like it has today. I will keep everyone updated as time goes by

will not edge... only trim

second unsuccessful product I bought from lowes in a week... bought electric cord blank and decker and only had single string so ran out in one use and would not edge... so I am throwing it away. This Kobalt was a lot more money and worthless on edging... as soon as you turn it to edge, cord hits grass and dirt, cuts off and stays real short so you cannot edge with any precision.. now I have to find someone to give this worthless machine to since I already used it. going to go back to B and D to...

cant get replacement parts at store

It works nicely with plenty of power and duration, but thats it. The trigger doesnt always start the motor. The autofeed is iffy at best and the spool cover broke after a month. The store doesnt carry typical replacement parts at all. Has plenty for other brands. Go figure....now i have to wait a week for a new spool cover. Im done with store brands!

you spend more time fixing the line spool feed...

I had had enough of my junk Toro gas trimmer that never ran when I wanted it to. So I went Kobalt electric. I love Kobalt generally but this one has some design issue with the spooler. I spend more time rewinding line, unjamming it, replacing it or generally fixing spool/line issues than I do trimming. The advance feature is ok... just stop whacking for a min, then the line will advance on next trigger pull. but it gets jammed up. Then I tend to wack until the line falls back inside the...

Worthless 5 year warranty

My spool cap broke in less than a year. I bought this not realizing the 5 year warranty doesn't cover the cap. Why not?! Without the cap it's worthless. And if not covering the part isn't enough, they don't sell replacements! Tom

Great little saw.

Works like a charm. When I went to the store to pick it up, I was told it was not there. I received a reminder email to pick it up, I found out it was there the first time. I guess the young lady was too lazy to go look for it. Other than having to make 2 trips to get it all is well. The saw works great.
