Ridgefield has a lighting problem

I've gone through two of these over the past year or so. The first one hummed, and the lights kept blowing out and then just quit working. I had it replaced and the second one blew out more light bulbs than I can count. They'd last anywhere from a few days to a month. After about a year, the lights quit working altogether. Don't waste your time with this fan.

Decent fan in 5 minutes, or more.

As a preface, I have installed many ceiling fans over the years. This fan has some innovative design, but is of average quality overall. For the price, I certainly recommend it. Some of the features of this Hunter fan, did save steps and time. However, this 5 Minute Fan claim is nothing but hype. Even Hunter states that the installation of the mounting plate is not included in the time. I would also subtract such unnecessary steps as taking the fan out of the packaging, reading the instructions...

Beautiful fans

I purchased 2 of these for my kitchen, they are so nice looking. I cant say how hard or easy they were to put in because my dad put them up for me, but he did say they were easier then most.

good but not 5 min

purchased this fan during the memoral day weekend and installed the next day. its not a 5 min install. the lights are good and the fan is whisper quiet. they should had put in the instructions of what kind of screws you put on but it dont take a rocket scientist to figure this out. all screws only fit per the screw hole. overall i love this fan. i put in my 3rd bedroom which is my computer room. i also purchased the westminister fan hunter.. this fan has the ball mount or flush mount. i used the...

Exactly what I wanted

This fan was really easy to put up. Maybe not 5 minute installation but with two people it took no more then 20 minutes to put up. The hardest part is putting the light fixture on as all the wires and plastic connections make it a really tight squeeze. Everything else is so easy a child could do it. (not that they should). The fan is quite and powerful. we have it in our bedroom and just slept through the night and it was as cool as could be desired and the motor couldn't even be heard.

Terrible light kit

I have had to replace this fan twice. Each time it is because the light bulbs burn out in a matter of days. I was told it is because of a component in the fan to save energy causing the bulbs to burn out quickly. Each time I was told a new fan with light kit would fix the problem. This is the third fan and it burned a bulb out in four days. I am going to try to get my money back. The fan may be okay but the light kits a junk.

Great value, looks great!

I bought two of these fans and my dad installed one so far. As others have said, it certainly isn't a five minute install. Took him two hours, but the previous fan never worked properly when I bought the house, so we hit a wiring snag. Now that it is up, the fan looks fantastic and works great. Very, very quiet even on high. I could not be happier with this fan. If my remaining two rooms didn't have vaulted ceilings, I would buy two more!

lighting

The only problem I see is that the lights stopped working. Found that the in line fuse had burnt out. Checked all the voltages from the house switch to the the switch on the fan. They were all 120 volts. There is not a spare part number for this in the part. Other wise a great fan. 5 minutes to put together yes....Installation easy hour.....

DO NOT BUY--- the motor smells like musty urine

My husband is returning 2 of these fans to Lowe's right now. We have owned these fans for 3 months. it took us this entire time to figure out that they were the source of this horrible odor that has been hanging in our daughters' rooms. We had shampooed carpets, laundered bedding over and over, cleaned ac ducts, etc... a nightmare. We were days away from cutting into walls and floors to search for mold. Finally we found the source. When the lights are on, the motor and casing emit a pungent smel...

Well made fan

Two of these fans were installed by an electrician in bedrooms that had no light fixtures, so he did the wiring and assembled and mounted the fans. He also set up a remote for each one. They are easy to operate, work with the dimmers on the remotes. They are both very stable, with no wobble, and utterly quiet even on high. They also look attractive. If I could change anything, it would be to have light bulbs other than the candleabra type, but that is a minor point considering the modest cost of...

Its inexpensive and it makes the room look elegant. The fan blades are also replaceable.

Excellent product for the cost

More than 5 minute required for install. Instructions are adequate. Fan is very quiet. Overall a very good buy.

Going Back for One More

One of the quietest, smoothest operating ceiling fan I've had the pleasure of installing. Did not need to perform any balancing. Tested it at the highest speed and the only noise is the air moving. Well balanced right out of the box with no perceptible wobble. The only con is that it will take more than 5 minutes to perform the installation. It is always better to take your time and be safe.

Lights out!

We installed this fan seven months ago. Since then, we have had to replace a bulb seven times--each of the three bulbs that were provided with the fan as well as several of the newer, better quality bulbs we used to replace the originals. Each bulb seems to last about a month. I would not recommend this fan unless you enjoy changing bulbs or being in the dark.

Quiet and powerful

Purchased 8 of this fan back on May or June of 2011 and installed them on a few of my rentals and some in my own place. So, far no complains. It's quiet and very strong. Would recommend to anyone. The only con, it includes 3 candelaria Incandescent bulbs? Don't we want to use less energy?

Great Fan, invest in different light bulbs

We installed this fan in a front bedroom/office which got very warm during the day. The fan looks and works great. It really cooled the room down. The blades can be turned for 2 different finishes. They easily snap into place so no need for tools should you want to turn them. Give yourself a few hours to install the fan. It is a two person job. Good fan for the money. Good lookng

Definitely not a 5 minute installation. Fan goes together easily and light kit is an easy 1 quick connect nylon connector. Fan is quiet but lights are a bit harsh using the included candelabra type bulbs. Frosted or soft white or cfl bulbs will make it a little better. Will be changing the bulbs as soon as possible rather than using the bulbs included in the box. Make sure you get the mounting plate good & tight to avoid wobbling. Easy wiring with only 4 wires.
