What Customers Are Saying
The Grip-Rite deck screws offer a durable and corrosion-resistant design with a star-drive head that provides excellent grip and prevents stripping, making them easy to drive into wood without slipping. They have good holding power and can securely fasten wood together, though some users found they had trouble gripping pressure-treated or wet lumber. While a few customers reported receiving defective screws, the majority found the screws easy to use, especially when paired with an impact driver. Overall, the screws appear to be a reliable choice for most outdoor construction and repair projects, as long as the user takes care to pre-drill holes when working with challenging lumber conditions.

Would RecommendScrews are durable and the star head makes it much easier to drive. Price is pretty much the same no matter where you purchase. I am not sure why screws are so expensive but these type are. Thanks to Lowes for the military discount because it helps.

Consistent quality
Would RecommendBought 2, 5 lb boxes to do my project. No bad or wrong sized screws in either box. Also none bent or broke. Did well with either treated or untreated material
Perfect for outdoor projects
Would RecommendI'm building a shed and used these instead of nails. They are the only way to go. They are fast and strong. The torx tip never strips even if your drill isn't straight. I would use gen on any outdoor project.
I went through 2-large box's of these screws. No problems noted. I used the last screw finishing my deck project today.
Strong
Would RecommendUsed them on my fence, they are a quick starting screw that has great pull.
3" Star drive screws
Would RecommendI like this type of screw, they don't strip out like the phillip heads do. I wish Lowe's would carry a 4" Star drive. At present I have to purchase the screws from a competitor, which charges more.
Great product
Would RecommendThe screw worked great for the fence I was building. heavy duty and easy to install with the star bit. Had less slippage than a Phillips bit.
These screws are for the pro, with a good bit, they speed up the time of putting together many projects, alot better then square or phillps screw's, very good product
Overpriced
Would RecommendI found the same product $10.00 cheaper in an independent lumber store.

Head sinks too far into green treated deck wood.
Would RecommendTreated lumber as bought from Lowe's is wet and soft. It is hard to stop this screw from sinking way too far into the green treated wood. If the treated wood was dry it might work fine but who had the time to dry the treated lumber. Next time I will try a drywall screw gun. This screws themselves seem fine.
Okay but not great
Would Not RecommendSeveral of the screws were not usable do to the heads..Out of the carton we used about2/3rd the rest were thrown away....
Star-drive deck screw
Would RecommendUsed these screws on a deck project and worked very well. No problems with use of star bit and quality of entire box of screws was great.
The best!
Would RecommendThese are the best really for any kind of construction as the star heads never strip out. Tough and rarely have a head snap off.
shoulder on screw is too short
Would Not RecommendThe shoulder of these screws are too short and the threads come too far up on the screw. This creates a problem say when you are screwing 2 2x4s together, it pushes the first 2x4 away from the 2nd causing a gap between them. You can't always be in a position to apply enough pressure to hold the 1st one against the 2nd 2x4. The screws you use to sell were perfect, longer shoulders shorter threads. Who ever your purchasing agent is, well they need another job if they could not figure this one out,...
