Smart Purchase

I was going to throw my weed eater away when the pull cord broke but decided to purchase this device instead. To me it works better than the pull cord.

Doesn’t Work

I purchased one and it was working intermittently and then stopped working, I had it two weeks. I took it back thinking it was just defective and exchanged for another one. I charged the new one over 24 hours and it doesn’t work at all. Taking this one back as well.

It works great

It works great, no more pulling your arm out of socket. However, the simple fact of having to buy it because 4 out of 4 Troy-Bilt 4 cycle string trimmers pull cord mechanisms have broken is a little ridiculous.

never worked

Ordered online. Received today. Will not come on, will not charge. Red light comes on for about 2 seconds then goes off. Craftsman used to be good tools. Not worth $50. Now a 45 minute drive to Lowes to return. Not happy. Just going to get my money back and use the rope to start leaf blower

Troy Built electric starter

Bought one. Had it for a year when the battery died. For what it does, seems to be not worth the money if it dies so quickly.

not the best probably not the worste

most of the time have to press the trigger multiple times before it will attempt to fire up the weed eater. I have used an electric starter before and it works much better than this.

Works great

This works great so far. Haven’t had it very long but so far so good. Don’t have to pull the cord to start the string trimmer which is good.

Won’t Charge

Purchased the first one and it wouldn’t take a charge after leaving it on the charger after a week. Returned the first thinking it was defective to purchase a second. Have had in charger now for 7 hours and it doesn’t work. Will return and search for a different brand.

Excellent gadget - better than Troy-Bilt original!

Like many others who purchased Troy Bilt string trimmers, my pull starter broke shortly after the warranty expired. Since replacing the rope mechanism wasn't cost effective and I wasn't thrilled with purchasing a new string trimmer (going to buy a STIHL or similar quality unit next time instead of the typical units that appear to be designed to be thrown away every year or so), my friend suggested buying the Troy Bilt electric starter like he (and several other friends) did when their rope start...

Hit or Miss

Hit or miss, like all other TroyBilt products I've ever bought; this is the 3rd starter I've had. I need this to start my TroyBilt line trimmer because I can't just replace the string pull spring. The 1st one lasted a little more than a year before it stopped charging and fell out of warranty. I bought a 2nd that started my trimmer twice then quit so I returned it for this 3rd one. I'll probably buy a new line trimmer when this starter finally quits.
