Stopped working

I used this all of about 3 times last summer to start my weedeater. I was going to use it again and I charged it up but it won't work anymore. Definitely not worth the $50+ I spent on it!

lasted 1 summer

I would recommend this to a friend with a caveat. I loved this thing. I've got a bad shoulder and using the pull start was really hurting. I even bought a brush cutter attachment for the trimmer because this made using it so much easier. At the end of the summer I stored it away. The next spring it started the trimmer once and it died. It didn't get sluggish it just died. DEAD. I guess I'll by a replacement because the grass is still growing but $55 for one summer is expensive.

tempermental button

The button to activate is very tempermental. Squeeze one minute and it fails to work, wait a minute and try again and it may work. It is best that this never come back in stock.

Very bad tool

Caution do not buy this tool. I purchased mine on 01-18-20 of course the is no grass to edge that time of the year. In April I used it for the first time and it worked great. The very next time I tried to use it didn’t work anymore. I took it back to Lowe’s store and they said it’s been over 90 and they could not help me and for me to call the company. I called MTD today after staying on the phone for an hour and they said this tool does not come with any warranty and basically told me to throw ...

Switch is the problem

People are returning the starter. The problem is the switch.I opened it up added small piece of heat shrink tubing to the tip of the switch and never had a problem again.

Don't know what I would do without it

I have trouble using pull cords on small engines, this is a life saver. Used on the Craftsman string trimmer this makes it very easy to start. The belt clip keeps it handy in case it stalls, runs out of gas or I just need to shut it off. The only drawback is that it doesn't lock into position even though the Craftsman motor has a method to do so, so 4 out of 5. Even with this drawback I highly recommend this starter.

Button doesn't work correctly.

The starter does work in terms of getting the engine going. The issue that I have with mine is that the button does not work correctly. I noticed that even when the button is fully pressed, it does not make good contact with the internal switch. I can pull the button to one side after pressing in order to trigger the switch but the product should not be used that way.

Not too good

Bought this last year. Worked great last year. Not working and it’s been charging for a couple of days. Made in China tells you all you need to know.

Doesn't work!

Bought one and it worked for two weeks and then wouldn't hold a charge. Returned it for a new one and charged it overnight. Didn't work. Put it back on the charger until the red light went off (2 hours later), and still didn't work. Returned it for a refund.

bought one and it was doa. didnt learn my lesson so i exchanged it. second one doa too.

Dead

The unit did not hold charge at all...brand new .::exchange it twice already...craftsman’s need to stop selling these starter..

DOA

Got this as a Christmas present in 2019. Put it on the charger while I mowed. Red light was illuminated. First time ever out of the box in April 2020. Tried to use it to start my trimmer and nothing. Will be returning/exchanging when Corona allows.

Hit or miss....

Purchased with the hope of simplifying my yard work. Very disappointed, as I only used it twice and after that it just stopped working. I assumed that it would be very reliable , so I didn't get the protection plan. My recommendation, is just to buy the drill adapter which is only $9-10.00. If you are going to buy this product, buy the protection plan!!!!!

Cold weather starter

Troy built machine would start easily with manual pull only when temperature was in in the low ninetys. Broken rib forced me to break down and purchase this starter. Wish I’d been smarter years ago. This has saved me a whole lot of time and pain. One of my best investments.

this product does not take a charge

I have had two of these and neither of them take a charge.

Will not start.

Charged half the day. Red light went out and it will not work. Headed back for a refund!

Starter for Edger

Very efficient in starting the edger vs. the manual way. Very pleased with this purchase.
