Would RecommendThe rail extension replaces the last section of rail closest to door. Make sure you get this if you have an 8' high garage door. It includes a longer belt to accommodate the longer length. Even with the extension, however, I found that I had to move the support brackets for the main unit forward about 7 inches so the lift uses every bit of the rail, stopping about ½ inch from the motor unit.
