A Must Have

Everyone that is a DYI type should have at least one of these. It is great for comparing temperatures of electrical connections and finding those that are higher (loose connections). You can check temps of your AC in the home or car, check auto and RV tire temps, etc. Lots of uses.

General Tools Digital Temperature Meter

I was a little unsure about buying something this inexpensive but I was pleasantly surprised. I was tracing circuits in an old house with baseboard heat and wanted a fast way to match heating elements to breakers. This worked perfectly and helped me locate a defective heater. Also used it to check for overheated connections in the breaker panel.

Does what it's for

We have a drafty house and wanted to see where air was getting in to try to fix it. It read different temperatures like we wanted. Just need to try fix the cold areas. It's a great toy for the dog also - the dogs loved the laser pointer part.

Great temperature gage

This freaking thing is a beast and is spot on! I was blown away by the ease of use.

I assume it's working?

I DO know it shows COOLER at the windows (you can feel that WITHOUT this meter) but I have no way to tell if it's accurate. Price wise it was a bit high but I wanted to find an air leak and DID with this tool.

Excellent tool.

I used this tool to keep an eye on the temperature of my wood furnace, chimney and how much heat the blower is putting out. At -35 F. degrees the furnace was run hard with the draft opened. With this tool I was able to adjust the draft to avoid a chimney fire over 3 weeks of hard burning at very cold temperatures outside. Am happy that Lowe's carried it in stock. Thankyou Lowe's!

Don't depend on the temperature displayed!

I bought one - temperature seemed wrong - tested it against a mercury thermometer and another brand laser. This General product was 9 degrees lower than the actual temp. I exchanged it for another with the same result - I just got my money back after the second attempt...
