CO Sense Problems

I've had this generator for over a year and used it once every two weeks with my trailer. Recently it has decided that there is a CO error. The generator can be started, but will shut-off after 5-10 seconds of operation. The generator exhaust is pointed toward open space and there is 15 foot of clearance around all sides of the generator. This has been well maintained and operated about 6 hours at a time once every 2 weeks. Looking to unplug the CO Sense so I can resume normal operations.

this unit has everything we are looking for.

I have had Generacs in two other locations which served us well when we experienced power losses. Because we were very rural they were literally life lines and each of them sold with the sale of the respective properties. Since we are now in FL and subject to unexpected weather conditions, the extreme heat and humidity are conditions we wish to be ready for. Obviously buying another Generac gives testimony to our satisfaction with the product.

Gp6500 great features

I love the generator. Easy to start . Like ytt he e idea of the Co2 sensor. The only issue is the handle installation. I’m not sure which jokes to use and which one dies the pin go into ?

Built strong

Very well built and powerful. It had no trouble powering everything we needed in our house.

Great piece of equipment

Lost power during hurricane Laura for a day and half. And, it performed great for what we needed it for (fridge, coffee maker, hot water kettle, toaster, fans, and phone chargers.

All around great product

Little gp3600 blows the lower end gens out the water, not to loud, i have it mounted to my camper and can sleep like a baby with it running on the bumper. Getting about 12hrs out of a tank running everything in the 25' camper a/c and all. Great unit Will be purchasing in 10k for the house this hurricane season Over all very impressed

Purchased New GP6500 NotOne but 2 Storms Coming

Just Purchased. Set up was easy and easy start up. I am a lady and had no problem. e have 2 storms coming to us at one time. Marco and then Laura. That is reason for purchasing it.

This product is easy to operate

I bought this product as backup due to recent power outages. It's easy to move and operate.

Not bad for a mid size.

Bought a GP3600 model today. We lost our electricity in a storm 4 days ago. Easy to assemble, started right up and is powering our fridge & some lights. Nice smaller unit. Very portable & not very loud. 4-20 amp duplex plugs & 1-30 amp locking plug. Not a bad value if it holds up.

Outstanding performance

First portable generator we've owned assembly was quick and easy. At over 70hrs. on it so far and its running strong just stay on top of the recommended maintenance and should last for years.

We pick this up to help us through derecho 2020 and 75 long hot August hours of no power. Preformed like a champ and now we are ready for the next apocalyptic event.

Your reputation WHY I bought my GP6500

I needed a new generator & the price was great - haven’t had the need (YET) but, I’m prepared! The (ONLY ISSUE) I have is the manual & bolt/washer locations - had to strain to see where the handle bolts live - it “REALLY” needs to be larger & clearer truly not user friendly - for the dotted positioning “ALMOST” need a microscope to see which of the 4 given locations they reside in. A tad nervous about the CO sensor (for stupid people) it’s more common sense to locate it where it can breath...

Nice Generator

This little GP6500 / CO sense technology performed perfectly for the 2 days we needed it much better than we expected.Easy assembly,oil fill and gas fill no issues. First pull started right up! Powered every circuit. Refrigerator,Freezer,Window AC,Cell Phones charged and several lights on keeping us safe,our food cool and frozen. This Generator went into service very quickly and easily

Hurricane Isaias blew into town and took out hundreds of thousands of homes power. Luckily, I was able to find a strong generator at a great price. I took it home, assembled it very easily and quick, gassed it up and put it into service within an hour. Good thing too, power was out for 4 days and I didn't loose anything in my Refrigerator, or sleep.

Product is nicely moveable.

Compact yet sturdy. Big wheels make it easy to move. Recommended for items to be used.

Small details....

Would be great if you would let people know how much oil to add when new & what is the spark plug type/number so we could buy some extras. Simple things you could print somewhere.....

good product

The product was easy to set up and get started, although very heavy for one person to work with. Once the wheels and handle were attached, it was easy to handle.

WARNING! PINCH POINT at handle

we recently bought 8 of these generators, they seam to be well built and do what they need to do. BUT, BEWARE of the Handle!! when handling the generator, the handle swung up and pinched the tips of 2 fingers off. After that we saw that the handle could be pinned in the up or down position.

YES & NO on Recommendation

I would recommend this Generac GP6500 COSense Generator for his built and quality. It feels a lot heavy than the stated specs, but overall built and quality of the product makes it worth the expense. It also runs for around 12-14 hours on a full tank. No I would not recommend this Generac GP6500 COSense Generator, because of several reasons.
