Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise these electrical boxes for straightforward installation and excellent value, with most noting the wings grip securely and flush mounting saves time without drywall removal. Many emphasize the low price and reliable performance for occasional use. However, several report the plastic locking tabs and screws break or strip easily during tightening, with some preferring older or metal versions for durability. Despite these concerns, most customers find the boxes effective for retrofitting outlets and switches into existing walls and consider them a worthwhile investment for the cost.

Would Not RecommendBeing a license electrician for over 20 years you get to see new and better products. Spending an extra dollar will save you time and at the same time will save your customers money. I tried using the plastic old work boxes and they're poor quality, time consuming and too much work!!! I rather put metal boxes together and save the aggravation. My advice, I will not use them. Hard to install, cheap looking, hard to install devices. I'm telling you this not because I'm beautiful, is because I've ...

No good... screw strips when tightening 😕
Would Not RecommendNo good... screw strips when tightening 😕 will not stay in wall
Good for what their purpose is.
worked just fine for my use. The old outlets were just in the paneling, no box. This made it easy to install a box and a new outlet.

complete junk
Would Not RecommendThese are worthless. The tabs at the top broke, the locking tab twisted off and i wasn't even applying pressure to lock it in the wall. Stay away from this junk. Why Lowes got rid of the BLUE drywall boxes is beyond me. BRING THEM BACK and stop selling low quality junk!!

1 gang old work box
Would Not RecommendWhen Lowes carried the blue plastic old work box they were fantastic. These gray ones are junk. The screws in these are soft, low quality garbage. The heads strip out almost immediately making it impossible to draw it in tightly to the wall.
Complete garbage
Would Not RecommendThese are complete junk will not tighten up worst brand on the market ! Get the blue boxes
Worst one I've ever tried. Get something else!
Would Not RecommendWhile there are some aspects to like about this box such as the easy to scribe and cut based on the rear profile, overall this was a no-go for me. I've used a variety of old work boxes and this one gave me all kinds of trouble. Specifically the screws used to secure it to the wall are seemingly a cheap insufficient design that will not hold with a powered screw driver type device and you can barely get it to hold the screwdriver head even doing it manually. The problem is also the diameter of th...

Flimsy Garbage
Would Not RecommendBoth the tabs on the box and tabs on the screws break / strip. The screws tend to strip if you don't screw it all the way in and back it out before installing it. I think these are the worst. Maybe the design has changed but these are nearly unusable compared to other brands.
cut the hole a little larger than the box
Would Recommendsingle gang switch box was very easy to install. sturdy tabs

Garbage
Would Not RecommendThese new gray boxes do not work well at all. The tabs keep breaking and refuse to tighten. Others have complained also. I’ve had to scavenge other boxes to replace lost or broken tabs. If you need one buy three. I wish Lowes would go back to the old blue ones.
