Great quality

I bought this a few month ago and finally set it up a month ago. I am very happy to use the machine.

Squeaks loudly when dryer is operating.

This dryer arrived and was installed today. It isn't even 10 hours old. After turning on the dryer for the very first wash load, it starting making a loud metallic squeak with every revolution of the drum that sounded like a rusty hinge. Assuming that perhaps it needed to stabilize from the delivery and being transported, we tried to ignore it. But the noise just keeps getting more grating to the nerves, and isn't stopping! I had to close my bedroom door because it's audible throughout our livin...

TERRIBLE

You can't fit much in it. It doesn't operate at a high heat so it doesn't dry very well. It twists up anything long like a table cloth or a bed sheet. Also, the sensors don't work well. It will say the load is dry when it's still damp. You just have to keep drying for another 20 minutes at a time. The only reason I bought it and keep it is that it fits into the built in area I have form my last GE dryer. That one was good, especially compared to this garbage.

Good dryer for clothes,but sheets end up in a knot

Major consumer magazine gave it fair reviews, but individuals who bought it complained of sheets becoming balled in a knot and not drying. I didn't believe them and bought it anyway since I had space constraints and it was the mate to excellent GE washer. I should have believed the reviews of those that had purchased it. This makes the dryer a pain the neck.

I bought my GE clothes dryer only because I needed a small appliance which would fit into my special closet.

Moisture Sensor is Garbage and Dryer Overheats

The moisture sensor doesn't work at all so we only use the timed dry. After about a month of use the dryer began to just shut off for no apparent reason. We only bought due to space and venting constraints.

Great machine once you learn the bells and whistle

We needed a stackable dryer for our condo. This DCVH480EDWW is compact but has a large front opening door. I found that towels and sheets dry best on "time dry" rather then the fancy "sensor dry" settings. Lite loads do fine on the pre programmed "sensor dry" settings. Nice machine. I'd buy it again!

Very unhappy

This and the companion washer replaced GE appliances that were about 15 years old and were failing. Most of the new appliances are huge and wouldn't fit into our laundry room so we chose a "compact" set. They turned out to be VERY expensive and very undesirable. The dryer in particular takes forever to dry and things wrinkle very badly.

Difficulty with sheets

I love the dryer except that my sheets get tangled up in a ball and don't get dry. I usually have to run the dryer 3 or 4 times to get 2 single sheets dry.

works great, fast and relatively quiet. enough wash cycles for all types of clothes.

Nice options but the lint filter needs work

We bought this dryer for a new condo and it has nice dry options but the lint filter is a tremendous pain in the hind end and needs a redesign. There are too many little nubbins around which the lint collects. Also, GE should consider making a pedestal for these smaller units. We had to buy a different brand.

Good features

I needed to buy a smaller size dryer to fit in a laundry closet and am very pleased with this dryer and it is vented to the outside, which is quite a plus. High price for this small unit.

I hate this dryer!

Sheets must be dried one at a time and within 10 minutes of starting the cycle, you must untangle the sheet which is in a ball. You must continue this process until it is finally dry.
