⭐☆☆☆☆ Disappointing from Start to Finish

We purchased the GE® 4.9 DOE cu. ft. Capacity Front Load ENERGY STAR® Washer with Steam expecting reliability, but within just a few months the motherboard failed — conveniently not covered under the “10-year warranty.” Since then, it’s been one problem after another, costing us time, money, and patience. Waste of money

5 years of light use. An expensive machine; the spin cycle not functioning correctly. It keeps resetting in the final minutes of the spin cycle to repeat endlessly. Also, it sounds like bearings are about to shoot out of the machine at any moment! Very disappointed!! Otherwise, I will say, it's a pretty ruby-red machine.

Parts no longer available

We’ve been informed after a month of back and forth that the parts required to fix our machine that is less than 3 years old and allegedly top of the line is no longer available. This far, no alternatives have been offered.

Great but did not last!

I have had this model for 5 years with good washing results. Usage would normally be around 3 loads per week. And on the 5th year exactly, without any warning sign or strange noise... it just stopped working. No belt... motor is used to rotate the drum. 2 hrs of work, 3 parts to be delivered in a month, and a total cost to which you buy a new appliance. I was so disappointed that I lost my faith in this company. Will my next GE washer last longer??

No power no lights

Second GE front loader, first one lasted from 2008 to 2017, 11 years with 2-3 loads everyday day Second one lasted less than 5 years 9-2017 to 8-2022; 1 load every 2 days Ran the tub clean cycle, per monthly maintenance, Then next day No power no lights. Buy Maytag

This washer failed in less than 3yrs of use. It caused water damage to my home. GE did nothing to honor any warranty, or investigate the cause. Stay Away.

Junk

The inner drum wore through the outer drum in less than 4 years. The parts to repair it myself are more than a new washer.

Poor Product Poorly Made

This the 2nd GE Washer of I have purchased since 2012. This last one I purchased 2018 and it has been a headache. I replaced all of my applicances to GE (dishwasher, dryer, microwave and refrigerator based on perceived quality. This washer lasted exactly 3 years. Now the drum is busted. Drum bearing issues after only 3 years

expect much better longevity w/ this costly front losing washer. total bummer. the 10 yer warranty misleading as it only covers the motor.

Tub bearing went out after a year and 5 months!

I was very happy with this washer (and dryer) - efficiency, cycle choices, appearance etc, but after 1 year and 5 months the tub bearing failed. It is just over the1 year warranty and apparently will go out completely and will need to be replaced. On this website it says there is a 10 year warranty, but that is only for the motor so that is misleading. It sounds like the bearing issue is a trend. Don’t get if you have uneven floors

Even after having service techs out the washer is unable to a load of even a handful of garments without going on perpetual spin cycle. The foot adjusters do not lock sufficiently nor are the feet large enough to stabilize any floor unevenness.

Only lasted 3 years. Tub bearing went as well as the control board.

Perfect for us

I am finding things to wash daily , actually love using this washer! It sings when cycle is completed.

Bearings went out

We bought our first GE front load washing machine 5 years ago and it lasted 2 years before the bearings on the drum went out. We got a new GFW480SPKDG almost 3 years ago and the bearings just went out again. This is a huge disappointment. These washers should last longer than a couple of years. I am now forced to switch to another brand.

Broke in 2 years

Second GE front loader in 3 years. The bearings went in the first one in less than 1 yr. After purchasing a second GE front loader, the bearings went 3 months after my extended warranty. GE won’t do a thing. Two machines that lasted less than 3 yrs. never waste your money on a GE appliance!!!

Great while under warranty, after that not so much

As stated in the title the machine worked well...while under warrant, but like so many other products nowadays as soon as the warranty ends so does the reliability. With in 2 weeks of the warranty ended a leak developed followed by the pump going out which was promptly replaced. Fast forward 2 months, shocks go out (at least thats what I am assuming due to the shaking). As one would guess all that shaking has now cause another leak.
