Works well and easy to install.

Our old disposal worked for many years but when it started to go in and out, we decided to buy the same model and try installing it ourselves, as it has a quick release. The part was relatively inexpensive, and it came with all necessary components for me to replace the unit myself in under an hour. Easy peasy and works great!

Easy installation from start to finish. Works great as expected from GE.

Louder than some others but reliable.

Tried another model to replace our previous 12-year-old version of this. It was quieter but not as good, so opted to swap out for the same model as we had previously. Works well and not too loud.

Impellers break off

I am on my third GFC520. The first two, after slightly more than 2 years, broke. In each case the impellers on the grinding plate separated. We are very careful what we grind - no bones, cut into small pieces before grinding etc. Assumed the first was an anomaly. Only bought a third since customer relations offered a $50 rebate, replacement installation is easy and maybe improvements were made in manufacture. I am very satisfied with the disposal I purchased, but there is one thing that I didn't realize due to purchasing it online and that it is a little noisy when turned on. It is something though that I can deal with. Next time I will purchase a higher end model.
