Had to do some wiring connector modification
Would RecommendOnce I modified the supplied wiring adapter, everything installed and worked just fine. My original detector wiring connectors from 1998 refused to fit the new supplied connector. By cutting off a piece of the new connector, it worked. I recently replaced detectors that had been installed in 2002, and they fit fine - so the minor change in design happened between 1998 and 2002.

Smoke alarms may not last 10 years.
This product was a direct replacement. The unit had a date stamp on it and as often as I kept seeing that they last 10 years, well the don’t.
