I really can't say anything respective to the reliability of this unit yet. I just installed it 10 minutes ago. BUT, if you are buying this detector thinking you can use it to monitor propane gas and carbon monoxide you will be let down just like me, when I found out that a carbon monoxide detector needs to be mounted at 5 feet or above since CO is lighter than air and propane gas is heavier than air so a propane detector needs to be located between 4 and 12 inches above floor level. Bad Readout, Low Battery warning 6 months later!
I had originally purchased this unit instead of the simple CO detector because I thought the gas sensor was a good feature. I purchased this to go right next to our gas fireplace. I usually buy Kidde, but I couldn't find a similar detector. So far, the readout is hard to read. The buttons don't always work. The highest reading button shows a blank screen. Would RecommendA neighbor told my Uncle he smelled gas in the kitchen, but my Uncle couldn't smell it. He's a smoker, out of caution, I bought this for the house. As soon as the power was connected it went off. I had also purchased a sniffer to pinpoint any leaks. The gas line installer has some explaining to do now!
