No alkaline battery in the package

Would Recommend

The specifications state that the package contents include a 9V alkaline battery. The reality is that a no name 9-volt heavy duty battery is included. The detectors instructions and the detector itself states that when battery replacement is needed, replace it with an alkaline battery. First Alert seems to be saying - DO AS IS SAY, NOT AS I DO.

Beware a possible bad lot of smoke detectors

Would Not Recommend

We had a lot of smoke from a meal I accidently had run over the pan . None of the smoke alarms alerted to the smoke in the rooms . The smoke lingered for a good 20 minutes . Took them back as we had put them in 2 weeks before . Not sure if there was a bad lot of them. We purchased 9 for our home .

Updated

Would Recommend

I purchased 7 of these smoke detectors to replace original yellowing ones from a 15+ new build. Hubby said they were easy & fast to install. It is amazing that such a small change made the room look cleaner and newer. There is a yellow plastic item that looks like a shower cap...keep it. If you do and projects, that produce dust, simply place the yellow cap over the detector. Dust and grime are bad for detectors.

Sensitive

Would Recommend

This unit replaced a 5 year old one that failed. This new one is very sensitive to heat and smoke. We have this is our kitchen about 12 feet away from the stove. Boiling water, or opening a preheated oven will make this go off. Not complaining as its doing its job, just note that it is sensitive

Junk. Don’t buy.

Would Not Recommend

I goes off on ver any little thing. The coffeemaker sets it off. If I microwave something and the steam gets to it (12 feet away) it goes off. It detectors like these that cause people not to bother with them and go unprotected.
