prone to failure
Would Not RecommendI have 10 of these in a 5 bedroom house . we replace them every 2 or 3 years to be careful. but every summer at least once or twice the whole house goes off in the night. no one has a good solution. warranty just gets you a new unit that is just as prone to failure. found that about 20% of these go bad in the first six months.
Easy to install, work great.
Would RecommendI bought several of these to replace old ones. The install was simple and the new models seem to work perfectly. They look better as well.

Mute doesn't work well
Would Not RecommendInstalled this in my kitchen and it activated when I opened my stove. OK, shouldn't be a problem. It has a mute button. Pushed it and it only muted for a few seconds. Kept coming back on.

Easy to install.
Would RecommendI replaced 5 hard-wired smoke detectors that were in our home when we purchased it 8 years ago. It was time to update to newer detectors as the ones in place were older than 10 years. I chose the First Alert BRK hardwired photoelectric units based on the reviews of other customers. The BRKs were very easy to install and they all worked together in sync, as advertised. Also, the front load battery compartments were a big selling point as the older units had the battery in back. I installed a...

So Far So Good
Would RecommendThis was a replacement for a prior installed wired smoke detector. The prior one just about 15 months old kept beeping even with two changes of batteries so we replaced it.

Easy replacement
Would RecommendThe smoke detectors in my home were >10yrs old, so it was time. They are hard wired with battery back up. Purchased these as a replacement, even though they were a different manufacturer from the old ones. Very easy to change the wiring to fit the new device, mounting was also extremely easy. It fit the screws in the junction box perfectly. 9 volt battery for back up was included. Ordered on line and picked up in store. It was a breeze, product was waiting in a locker when I got to the store. Sc...
