Photoelectric Smoke Detector Install

We recently replaced 5 of our smoke detectors as they were installed in 2009. Since we had heard that they should be replaced every 6 years or so we decided to do all at once. We purchased the 6-pack, contractors price was considerably less than buying 5. They were easy to install and pop in the new battery as well and we were all finished within about 30-40 minutes. We would highly recommend them and it saves the headache of waking in the middle of the night to the ear-piercing sound of a flock...

Good price with contractors pack

Bought 6 (contractor pack) to replace 12 y/o detectors. Comes with 9 volt battery. Has an LED that shines a circle on the floor. I had to re wire all as my old detectors were of a different company.

We have a hardwired alarm in the hall outside a bathroom. A member of the family showers without the vent on. When they open the door the steam hits the alarm. The old alarm would go off and could not be silenced except by throwing the breaker. This alarm has a button to silence it, but we have not had to use it yet. Very happy so far with this unit and it has a battery backup that the prior alarm didn't have.

Easy To Install and Good Value (so far)

Did a lot of internet research before going with this one. Found out not to go with ionization smoke alarms only and combination ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms. OK to go with separate ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms but if only one technology go with photoelectric. Was considering a 10-year battery smoke alarm until salesman at Lowe's said the battery is probably good for ten years but the electronics fails on average around two years. Nice product

I bought 3 of them to replace 3 older hard wired detectors. They were an easy install, practically a direct replacement. You can't really know how they work unless you have a real fire, but I have confidence in the brand, plus this model has high ratings from magazines that do testing.

Re-Painting needed after replacement

I replaced 4 First Alert units last week because they were at their age limit. Older First Alert unit was smaller but had a large mounting ring. New First Alert unit is larger but has a smaller mounting ring. I had had the house interior painted last year and now have to repaint around the mounting ring in 4 different paint color rooms because the old paint color shows in all 4 rooms. So my question is "why make the product big and mounting ring small and make a paint job for the customer"? S...

Excellent replacement alarm

This was a replacement for the contractor-installed smoke alarm when our home was built. The original alarm was also a KDE alarm, but lacked a backup battery. The original alarm was an ionization smoke alarm, and this replacement uses a photoelectric detector. Both alarms are hard-wired into the house electrical grid, and the connector plug on the replacement alarm is the same as on the original, so no rewiring was required. Hardwired Smoke Detector

Replaced a very old hardwired unit with this unit. Pretty straight forward install and this unit features a battery backup which the old unit did not have. A bit of security knowing if power fails we have an alarm that will work.

Great Value

There were a couple of different models with some features that we were sure about but the sale associate explain the difference. We were pleasantly surprised at the price also! It was easy to install and looks great. The backup battery is much easier to replace than the old one!

Easy Installation

I replaced two existing Smoke Detector and the installation was about ten minutes for each. Wish instructions were one page for each language and not prsented like a multi fold. Any one that can read instructions can install the smoke detectors

Quality Alarm if Working Properly

Hi, I have had the occasional false alarm too, very annoying. My garage sensor was a different make than all the rest so I changed it out with the same one I have throughout the house (First Alert) and everything seems to be OK now.

What is there to say about a smoke detector? You don't know if it's good until there's a fire! I will say that I couldn't find an employee at the Lowe's store to help me to pick one out for about 15 minutes, and that person didn't know anything about the products. One guy said he had to go "up front" for a minute and would be right back, then never returned.

Great Conforming Replacement Alarm

This alarm was the perfect replacement alarm that conforms to the new photoelectric sensor fire code for kitchens and baths. Installed 7 alarms in an hour by replacing the old plate with the new plate and connecting with the same 3 pin electrical connection. Very easy!!!! Thanks.

i replaced all the detectors in my house as the old ones were 15 years old and we never had issues with them but it was time to replace them. these new ones have been installed barely a year and we have had 4 false alarms for no reason already. we have a petrified 5 year old now due to these so if you have kids or pets find another option.
