Photoelectric alarm better than ionization type
Would RecommendReplaced seven old ionization detectors with the new BRK 7010B units. DIY job that was petty easy. Did have to remove the old backplates/brackets and untwist the wire nuts to install the new "pig tail" connector adapters. The worst part for me is standing on a ladder. Would RecommendBought about 10 of these to replace older BRK ionization smoke detectors. These are Photoelectric. Do the research on the internet yourself and you'll find that Photoelectric are far superior than ionization type. Regarding the install was simple since First Alert is actually manufactured by BRK, so these had same wire connectors as the old ones. Was able to change all of them in our house (about 10 and high ceilings) in less than an hour. It's a no-brainer if you already have BRK/First...
