Definitely needs some kind of backing
Would Not RecommendThe mesh seemed like a great idea, and the instructions were pretty simple. Only problem... the putty kept seeping through the mesh into the wall. The only part that would seal with putty over it was the part that was on the actual wall. Any part where the hole was just kept eating all the putty and wouldn’t create a foundation for the next coat to adhere to. I ended up plopping a whole bunch of putty that I will have to sand before applying another layer.
Excellent Ceiling Patch
Would RecommendI had to fill in a small hole in the ceiling where it joins the wall. This is normally more difficult when done along a wall. With this patch, the job was easily done and looks great!

Drywall insta patch
Would RecommendI’d recommend this product even for the novice repair person. If the hole is bigger than a dime I’d cut a piece of insta patch and slap it on. Be generous with first coat of mud. Let it dry and then sand it down. Put a second finer cost of mud and repeat the process. Wall will be as good as new.
