Would Not RecommendThe design of this lag screw is really great. The wide head keeps them from sinking too far into the wood like the timberloks do. The problem is that no industry standard bits will fit these screws! When the time comes to modify or dismantle your project the chances of you or anyone you hire having one of their obscure bits is close to zero. And believe me, these screws are almost impossible to cut through when you can't find the bit. I will never use these again!

Would RecommendScrews not bad, but I like the ones with a hex head better, they never strip.

excellent deck screws
Would RecommendI use these screws for installing 45 decree cut 4x4's for bracing a tall one story deck. Much faster than lag bolts and after 1/4 inch pre drill they are self taping.

Spider Bits. Why?
Would RecommendVery good product! The only reason I give it four stars is because the manufacturer uses a proprietary spider bit. There are some retailers including a few Lowe’s stores that do not carry extra spider bits. Wouldn’t it been easier for the end user if the fastener heads accepted a Torx bit?

Needs a stronger bit, and it's not a common size
Would RecommendThe bit only held up for 2/3 of the box, only time will tell if the screws last. Fortunately I was able to limp to the finish line with a #3 Phillips tip in my impact driver. They do look nice.

Best Decking fasteners
Would RecommendThese fasteners work great. No predrilling due to the design. The spider lock bits stay in the head without trying to push back and hold securely while sinking the screw.
