What Customers Are Saying

The screws are praised for their excellent quality, strength, and ease of use, making them well-suited for a variety of construction and DIY projects. Customers particularly appreciate the self-tapping design, which allows for quick and easy installation. However, some users have expressed frustration with the proprietary screw head design, which requires a specific bit that is not always included, leading to additional costs and inconvenience. Overall, the screws are considered a reliable and high-performing choice for those willing to invest in a premium fastener product.

To hold corbels together

Would Recommend

I built corbels out of 4x4 rough cut cedar and used the FastenMaster to secure the joints. After drilling pilot holes I screwed in the FastenMaster and the joints were more secure than I had envisioned. The flat head is won't get in the way when I attach the corbels to the structure.

Time saver!

Would Recommend

I recently built a 16'x16' deck on our above ground pool. I used this fastener for all of the framing. No need to drill a pilot hole. Screw them in as easy as screwing in a sheet rock screw or deck screw. They replace 3/8 lag screws and will really strengthen your framing projects and speed up the process of building. I used 150 of these, 2"x10" joists and 4"x4" posts you should be able to land a helicopter on my deck, or a dozen rowdy teenagers at a pool party. Highly recommend them.

A great to make the job easier!

Would Recommend

These screws are fantastic! I zero problems using them! They are a real time saver and look great! Well worth the extra money since these took less effort to use. I has no issue with the provided driver bit. I used my electric craftsman drill to drive the screws.

Great product.

Would Recommend

These screws made for easy installation and saved us a great deal of time in erecting the beams we laminated using these screws. The screws started quickly and really drew the individual boards together very well The only reason that I did not give this product 5 stars is because of the screw driving tips provided buy the manufacturer. After less than 20 screws, the screw driving tip was completely worn out and I had to make a special trip back to the hardware store to buy additional tips. Now t...

Great screws

Would Recommend

These screws are a true 4.5" as advertised, not an 1/8 to a 1/4" short like many brands. The price is a bit high on them if you buy low quantities. I used these to hold the upper levels of a retaining wall made from 3"x4" landscaping timber. Some complain about the "spider bit", I like it I used a cheap 20V B&D drill to run these into the timber after putting a 1/8" pilot just to keep the screw straight. The drill had no issues other than after having to swap batteries every 4 to 6 screws. I onl...

Strong and fast, but why so proprietary?

Would Recommend

The screws are strong and cut through the wood very efficiently, but I don't understand why they felt the need to create a proprietary screw head pattern. What made it even worse is that a driver bit wasn't provided in the box. I started to buy a smaller box and I noticed that they included the driver bit. I didn't notice that the bit wasn't included in the larger quantity box, and this led to some significant problems when I got home. Fortunately I was able to improvise with a phillips head scr...

GREAT!

Would Recommend

I'm a carpenter and build a lot of decks. I used to bolt my frames together which involved drilling holes and wrenching nuts and washers etc together. These are very easy and fast, suggest you use an impact drill. Once you use these you will never use bolts again.

good attachment devices

Would Recommend

I had no trouble from these wood screws, and provided bit(s). I used in attaching 2x6 rails to ceiling and pole mounts for vertical fitness classes, anti-gravity yoga workout nets. I was able to feel secure in placing my weight in both hanging (yoga) and shear stress for poles. Only difficulty encountered was malformed heads of two bolts.

Deck bolt

Would Recommend

This Screw was recommended by one of Lowes professionals for securing the posts and deck frame. They worked flawlesly. The star drive in the head of the screw provides a very positive drive system to secure the screws through the wood. Used paddle bit to recess heads below flush, screws would draw into the wood, but this was better. The facia is flush to the wood this way.

nothing like these that I know of

Would Recommend

I am glad I found these to attach a 14 foot 2x8 facia onto a building. Why use such a heavy duty board for facia you ask? Because with these screws you can and it made my building that much stronger.

Perfect alternative to lags

Would Recommend

Used these in lieu of lag bolts to attach multiple 2x6s to 4x6 posts. I'm building a 24'x15' pole barn. They slide right in the the wood as though they were lubricated! The star design head coupled with my new impact driver made this easy work. No strain and no stripping the heads. I am confident these will hold the weight.

Love the screw, hate the spider bits

Would Recommend

I love the screws. They drive easily with impact drivers. The only negative is the spider bits. They are very soft metal and they self-destruct easily. It took 13 spider bits to drive 150 screws. I used two impact drivers, a Milwaukee 2563 cordless impact driver and a Porter Cable 120v impact driver. The Milwaukee has three torque settings and the highest setting is required to drive the 4.5 inch screw to countersunk position. Its problem is it died after driving a dozen screws. The Porter Cable...
