So far so good.

I have had no issues with either at this point. I did notice while making dovetails that the router would hemorrhage pushing into the oak and spark inside the housing. That being said, it has not failed in his work every time I've used it.

Easy to handle

Love the adjustable power setting on this router! We work with a lot of treated lumber and have burned out many routers because of it. These routers seem to last years for us and have the power and speed to work with many types of wood. I also like the size of the router.

my $200 paperweight

I bought this tool because of the spindle lock. It’s a nice feature. But it doesn’t make up for the fact that this router is a total dog of a tool. I burned up two Motors before I gave up on this tool. The plunge lock lever is horrible. Read some other reviews on other sites before you commit to this tool. The motor has some chintzy design flaws. If the motor gets hot at all it cracks a magnetic ring. It’s a total dog. Not a pro grade tool at all. I have the Bosch 1617evs now. It’s a much better...

Great for dovetail jigs

Just what I needed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to use for double duty as a free-hand router and with my router table. So far I have been extremely happy with it. The height adjustment wheel took a little getting used to to get it exact but that's the worst I can say about this product. It's quite powerful and cuts well. The handles are comfortable and the whole tool feels solid.

Great reliable

First one lasted one week

Im a big Dewalt fan so Im going to give them a pass for an almost out-of-box failure. I used the router once and on the second use I heard a rattle of a loose part inside the motor housing. Before I could switch the motor off, it started smoking. Done. Thanks to the retailer who honored the warranty and exchanged it right away. I'm sure this was a rare occurrence and so far so good with the new one.

All around features I was looking for.

Bought this to replace a 20 year old fixed base one speed router. First use was on a new table saw wing router table. Works fine so far. Router table is in with a router lift and now making a router fence. With a good bit and the right speed it cut clean and quickly.

I purchased this router because of the variable speed control and because of the two size collects (1/4 in and 1/2 in). Although those were my main reasons, I was very happy to get the fixed and plunge bases in addition to the bag. I have used it a few times and once you select the right speed for the job, the router performs amazing. I installed the fixed base to my router table, and use the plunge base for more manual jobs. I have bought DeWalt for years and needed to get a better router. This one is very versatile and fits my needs.
